My story

Meet Nicky, a sweet and social 3-year-old Jindo mix with a snowy white coat and a gentle heart. Weighing in at 17 kg and standing 50 cm tall at the shoulder, Nicky was rescued just in time—saved from euthanasia at a shelter. Since then, he’s shown nothing but love and warmth to the people around him. Nicky is the type of dog who happily leans into people, whether they’re familiar faces or strangers, letting them pet him with ease. He’s even been known to show his belly to people he’s just met! While he hasn’t been around children under 13, he allows himself to be picked up comfortably and just adores human affection. When he first arrives in a new home, he circles around asking for love and attention, but after a few days, he settles into a calm routine. He’s deeply people-oriented, but he does get nervous if someone is holding a long object or raises their arm—likely a response to past trauma. He flattens his ears and lowers his body in fear, suggesting he may have experienced abuse while living on the streets. During walks, Nicky may pull a bit in unfamiliar areas, but give him about three days and he’ll adjust well, walking comfortably and responding to his handler. He’s more interested in sniffing than marching forward, so his walks are a stop-and-go affair. Sudden noises or quick movements can startle him, but he generally has moderate energy and relaxes peacefully after outdoor activities. He doesn’t guard his food and will even allow you to take it from his mouth without issue. While he hasn’t shared long-lasting chews with other dogs, he’s comfortable accepting treats in the same space with them. He rarely barks, but he does express himself with gentle whining when he’s excited—like when you come home or it’s time for a walk. He’s calm in a crate and knows how to hop in and out of the car on his own. Nicky prefers outdoor potty breaks and typically does not go indoors. At the dog park, Nicky is friendly and playful with dogs his size or smaller, often greeting them with sniffs and even play bows before romping around together. He’s a bit wary of much larger dogs, and if one approaches him too quickly, he might growl and back away in fear—not aggression, but a signal he’s uncomfortable. With proper supervision, he can still enjoy social settings. Nicky also gets along well with cats! When he first met one, he invited them to play with bows and excitement. By day three, he toned it down, though if a cat starts running, he might think it’s a game and join in—so a watchful eye is helpful. Loving, expressive, and gentle, Nicky is ready to find a home where he can feel safe, adored, and part of the family.
