My story

Adoption Application: https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication ********If dog/pup is showing as available it is available. Please do not email asking if it is. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet Chia! She is a stunning 1-yhear-old Doberman who weighs in around 76 pounds. She's tall enough to reach the kitchen counters on all fours- but she's not looking for snacks! She's just curious and wants to be part of whatever you're doing! Chia spent her first year living in an apartment, and is now adjusting to life in a home with a yard and foster siblings. She's learning quickly, but still getting used to stairs and the freedom of having easy access to the outdoors. She's mostly potty trained, though she does occasionally have an accident as she continues to adjust. Chia is extremely affectionate and wants nothing more than to be near people. She loves cuddling on the couch with a pillow and blanket, watching a movie, and falling asleep in your lap. While she used to sleep in a crate she has made it very clear that she prefers the comfort of the couch and does wonderfully outside of the crate! Chia enjoys sniffy walk, playing tug of war, chewing on a good bone, and romping around outside- either by herself or with her foster brother. She's very treat-motivated and responds well to training. She knows "sit", "down" and "high five" so far. She does well with "come" but is still learning to recall when overstimulated. She can be vocal at times, but settles in nicely with the right balance of exercise and enrichment. Due to her size and playful energy, we require a home without small children or small animals. Chia is still learning how to play appropriately with other dogs and is unaware of how big she is. We are unsure of how she is with cats. She will thrive with an adopter who can continue her training and give her plenty of structure, affection, and playtime! Is Chia the dog of your dreams? Please apply today! If you would like to meet this adorable dog an application must be filled out https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication We are in Rochester, NY, we adopt to people who live in the Rochester area. We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally we require physically fenced yard for dog/pup to play in safely. Exceptions are sometimes made to this requirement but is up to the foster and more often done for the small breed dogs. All our dogs have been treated with de-wormer; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 months or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian plus given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed at time of adoption. Dogs will be spayed/neutered thru us prior to finalizing any adoption. We provide information on dogs age and breed based on what we are told by person surrendering dog or vet's best guess. While we try our best we cannot guarantee that this information is 100% accurate and can often be best guess in case of our lovable mutts. You can learn more about our rescue and process at www.new2urescue.org or find us on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/New2Urescue. You must be 25 yrs of age or older to adopt through us. We are in the Rochester NY area and adopt dogs out to area residents. We are registered in NY State with the Dept of Agriculture RR #033 and a registered 501c3 Non-Profit.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Chia, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
