My story

Meet Kogi, a 4-year-old neutered male Welsh Corgi with a charming tricolor coat of black, brown, and white, weighing in at a healthy 16kg. Kogi was brought into the city shelter at the end of December 2024. He was found wearing a leash and already knew basic commands like “sit” and “paw,” which, along with his friendly behavior toward strangers, strongly suggests he was once a beloved pet before being abandoned.   Kogi is a social butterfly when it comes to people. He happily approaches not only familiar faces but also strangers, leaning in for pets and belly rubs—even rolling over to show his tummy on first meetings! He’s equally affectionate with men and women and, although he hasn’t met any children under 13, we believe he’d do well with them. He’s even comfortable being picked up, letting you slip your arms under his belly to lift him.   With other dogs, Kogi prefers a more selective social circle. He won’t usually be the first to say hello or initiate play, but once he’s done a bit of sniffing around and finds a dog he clicks with, he plays with genuine enthusiasm. He tends to gravitate toward dogs similar in size and is also gentle with smaller pups. While he’s not a fan of big group hangouts, he enjoys bonding with a few close canine pals. Kogi does have a touch of jealousy—if he’s soaking up attention and another dog comes close, he might let out a growl, but he’s very responsive to human cues and stops right away when told.   We haven’t seen Kogi interact with cats yet, but a cat test can be arranged if needed.   Kogi’s energy level is moderate: he’s all in for outdoor fun but settles down nicely afterward for a good rest. He has lots of walking experience and generally follows his person well on walks, though he can pull on the leash a bit in excitement.   He doesn’t guard his food from people, but he might growl if another dog gets too close during mealtime. Kogi thrives on human companionship—he’s not extremely anxious when left alone, but he does want to be near you and might bark a little to ask for attention. He also makes some whiny sounds when crated and is comfortable doing his business both indoors and outdoors.   If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion with a sweet temperament and a dash of Corgi sass, Kogi might just be your perfect match!   Send in your application today through our website   https://adoptmekoreanrescue.org/adoption-application/   He can arrive at Vancouver or Toronto airport and may be able to arrive at some US airports (Seattle, LA, NY, Boston etc) where we have flight volunteers.
