My story

Ideal home: The perfect castle for this Prince is one where he's an only fur child and ideally in a neighbourhood with wide sidewalks and less dog traffic. Currently he lives in an area with lots of dogs and walks have been strategic to avoid undue stress. His ideal home will be with loving people who can give him the love and attention he deserves-he's such a special boy. A home with few stairs or with carpets would be wonderful for Prince, especially as he gets older. Personality: Prince is the absolute sweetest, quirkiest guy. He loves his people and will choose one person to attach himself most too. He loves a morning and evening cuddle puddle and will sing and howl when he's getting snugs. It's so funny! He adapts well to new schedules and if he had his way would be near his humans all the time- even if just snoozing quietly at your feet. He has a favourite ball he loves to show off when he's excited and will put himself to bed with it when he gets sleepy. He's a gentle soul who wants love, food and a good long nap. Prince will make a wonderful companion for whoever is wanting to give this sweet senior boy a loving home. Good with dogs: Prince is not a fan of other dogs. He will sometimes hone in on them and other times pull and bark. It's best to see them before he does so he can be redirected with a treat, going another direction or crossing the street. Good with cats: No. He has high prey drive. Good with kids (+ ages): 10+ Good with strangers: Prince has met some neighbours and friends has had loving interactions. He loves new people in the home, and loves to cuddle. If surprised while out on a walk he may bark, but is easily redirected. Guarding issues: Prince can occasionally be protective of his handlers, but he's improved a lot. Behavioural issues: Prince's fosters are working on his leash reactivity to dogs. House trained: Yes Crate trained: Prince is currently given free roam of the home. His bed on the floor in his foster's room where he much prefers so he can be close to his people. Separation anxiety: Prince has been left alone up to 7 hours with no issues. He will wait by the door ready to greet his people when they return. Destructive: No. He likes to playfully grab your slippers or even clothes when you are trying to put them on, but not at all destructive. Leash skills: Prince is a strong boy and if excited by a squirrel or another dog, he can pull suddenly. When he really has to go to the washroom he'll pull ahead more but when he's calm walks nicely on leash. Okay with manipulations: Prince loves all pets, snuggles and cuddles Medical issues: Prince does have arthritis; it does not impact his mobility, but he is on gabapentin for pain management. Prince is fostered in Toronto
