My story

** $505 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** ** Interested foster through rescue ** Luann ACCT-A-219100 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Luann must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, ADOPTER, or EXPERIENCED foster by FRIDAY, JUNE 20TH at 10AM. Should Luann's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Luann is one of ACCT's long-term residents, and is not making any improvement, behaviorally, and it's not kind to keep her in an environment that is a constant barrage of stress. Luann was abandoned at a veterinary clinic, and was described by her finder on 4/30 as "scared and aggressive." It's unfortunate that we don't know anything about where she came from, because often even short memos can help us make a cat's time here even a little bit easier for them. Behavior memo, 5/2 TTA hissing, growling and swatting, was able to give rabies [vaccine] and revolt. 5/21 Luann enjoys her treats and is pretty nervous. Her kennel was covered by a towel, and when I opened the door she had dilated pupils, airplane ears, and hissed and growled. Anytime I opened the kennel to give treats or anything would hiss and growl. Go Slow. 5/27 Luann immediately hissed at me when I looked at her kennel but did not move or swat when I opened the door. She hissed as I shut the door too, but then came up to the door and started to sing. Her amazing vocals would turn into a growl if I got closer. She seemed conflicted and stressed, and would benefit from someone with lots of patience and a slow approach! Our staff and volunteers have been taking extra time to win Luann over, and we did find out that she really likes treats! 5/30 I was in the cat room when a staff member introduced me to Luann. She immediately came to the front of the kennel, growling. I offered her some toys covered in catnip and a few treats. She showed no interest in the toys or catnip, but she really enjoyed the treats and made little "num num" noises while eating them. Luann does not like people getting too close to her kennel door and will growl when approached. Later, I returned to the room to get a video of the cat next to her. Luann remained at the front of her kennel, watching me closely. When I got too close, she growled and hissed. I sat nearby and spoke to her calmly for a bit. She eventually moved to the top of the kennel, but when I spoke to her, she hissed again—so I gave her space and left her be. Luann is going to need a person who can really commit to moving at her pace. She might end up making an excellent working cat, or only be adored from afar, or maybe she might reveal herself to be the quintessential lap cat. Luann is looking for someone who would be fine with anything. Which is a tall order. But her stunning green eyes are very persuasive. Video: + Luann enjoying yummy treats: https://youtube.com/shorts/osIhS07YtqM?feature=share + Luann likes her personal space https://youtube.com/shorts/ZcHaOAN6c4E - Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly’s Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Luann , please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
