My story

*** Apricot is at Petsmart Aero adoption center. ***Apricot #19651: orange tabby & white, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 3/18/16Cats: okay, good soloDogs: unknownChildren: calm older respectful kids BACKGROUND: Apricot was found at a shelter in Hawaii by one of our partner vets. She had an upper respiratory infection and wasn’t eating due to painful mouth inflammation. Concerned about her chances there, she brought Apricot back to San Diego with her and took care of her medical needs. With Apricot now healthy, she asked The Rescue House if we could help her find a loving forever home. PERSONALITY: Apricot is a very affectionate and talkative kitty! She asks that people always speak to her in a kind voice and have a slow and gentle approach to petting and attention. Apricot will flourish under such care and become your BFF. She can get overstimulated with vigorous pets on her back and rear, and finds a sideways approach going along her chin, shoulders, and sides to be more relaxing. Apricot may quickly mouth at your hand when she’s getting a bit antsy, but since her teeth were removed to resolve her mouth issues you’ll just get some saliva on you… rather than pulling away, though, just rest your hand quietly on her for a bit without active petting and she’ll resettle. We think she may have had some bad experiences in her past with fast-moving hands, but if you are patient and considerate with her then Apricot responds in kind. She loves a soft fuzzy bed and catnip-filled kicker sticks and is such a sweetie! COMPATIBILITY: Apricot is okay with other even-natured cats and would also do well as a solo kitty. We don’t know her thoughts on dogs. Older respectful children (preferably tweens and up) who understand her interaction needs and won’t be pushy would likely be fine. And overall calmer home would suit her best.Apricot has traveled a long way to find her forever people. Will you make her dream come true and give this gorgeous girl a lifetime of love?
