My story

*** Dusty is in a foster home. ***Dusty #15945: brown tabby & white, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 1/1/16Cats: blends well Dogs: probably not Children: tweens+ BACKGROUND: Dusty originally lived with a group of cats in Balboa Park; she would greet new tourists to her area and looked forward to mealtimes when caring humans brought food and water twice daily. However, predators moved into the area and started hunting the cats. To immediately save their lives and give them the chance to find loving homes where they would never be in danger again, the friendly cats were taken into Rescue House.PERSONALITY: Dusty is glad to be out of the “woods” and is happy living in a comfortable home. It did take her some time to adapt to the new circumstances, and she will need patience when making another move. She is not a bold-natured cat and change means uncertainty. Yet once she feels safe, Dusty is a very sweet and happy kitty who loves to be petted! Pets are wonderful. She’ll also come join you on the bed at night (and commandeer your pillow during the day). She’d rather keep her paws under her own control rather than be picked up for cuddles, but within her comfort zone she’s delighted to be your kitty companion. Dusty likes it best when you are on her level, whether that’s lying on a bed, sitting on the floor, or standing to pet her when she’s on a cat tree perch. She’s a sucker for a lickable Churu-type treat and that’s a great way to get introduced.COMPATIBILITY: Dusty is accepting with other cats of all ages and blends well into a clowder. Due to past experiences in the park we doubt that she would welcome dogs, though she has not been around any in foster care. She loves caring adult humans and would likely be good with older children who are respectful of her wishes. Since Dusty can startle at sudden moves and loud noises, we recommend a calmer home for her.Dusty’s trust is ever the more precious because it is earned.
