My story

There is an adorable video of me on social media! Click here to experience the cuteness! Meet Jam!Jam is a sweet, spirited senior who arrived at the shelter as a stray, so we don't know her backstory-but we do know she's made a big impression here. At around 9 years old and 60 lbs, Jam is a beautiful gray-and-white mixed breed girl with a big personality, a big heart, and yes-a little bit of sass.🏠 My Ideal HomeJam would thrive with an adopter who appreciates her zest for life and can support her with enrichment, exercise, and structure. She's energetic for her age and loves to learn, so a home that can offer mental stimulation and force-free training will help her shine. Jam has some special medical needs, so a compassionate adopter willing to provide ongoing care is essential. A quieter home where she can be your one-and-only-or carefully introduced to other respectful dogs-would be ideal.👶 Good with Kids?Jam has shown some body language suggesting stress around children, so a home without young kids is recommended.🐶 Good with Other Dogs?Jam has had a variety of playgroup experiences at the shelter-sometimes playful and bouncy, other times overstimulated or reactive depending on the dog. She's been used as a greeter dog and shown appropriate social skills, but also needs space when she's had enough. With the right match and slow intros, she may do well with a mellow companion.🐾 Leash MannersJam walks with mild to moderate pulling and can become reactive to other dogs on leash, especially in high-traffic areas. A front-clip harness and reward-based redirection are recommended. She's been working hard with our behavior team and shows great progress when engaged in training games like the "123" or "Take A Breath" exercises.🩺 Overall HealthJam has a suspected idiopathic head tremor syndrome, a benign condition that causes occasional, harmless head tremors. These episodes are self-limiting and don't require medication, though we advise continued observation and a veterinary consult in the future. She has also recovered fully from kennel cough and continues to enjoy a good appetite and solid mobility. 🔍 Behavior Determination: Level 2 - Experienced AdoptersJam is a high-energy senior who benefits from routine, enrichment, and a calm environment. She can get overstimulated, jump up for attention, and occasionally hump handlers when excited-but she's also affectionate, playful, and eager to engage. Puzzle toys, long walks, and continued training will help channel her energy.🎾 One Fun FactJam once caught-and ate-a bumblebee during playgroup. She was fine. That's just the kind of girl she is: a little quirky, a little bold, and very much unforgettable. Primary Color: Gray Secondary Color: White Weight: 60.4 Age: 9yrs 4mths 0wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jam, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
