My story

Meet Mariposa! Mariposa came to us from San Diego Humane Society - Oceanside on March 17th. She is 10 years old and weighs 10 lbs. Mariposa is the sweetest, snuggliest girl you’ll ever meet. She soaks up every bit of love she’s given. Whether curled up in your lap or trotting beside you on a walk, Mariposa is happiest when she’s close to her people. Don’t let her small size fool you—Mariposa is full of energy and adventure! She recently joined two of our shepherds on a 3-mile walk, easily keeping up without missing a beat. She’s living proof that little dogs can do big things! Mariposa also gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and loves to play, especially if toys are involved. Give her a squeaky ball or a tug rope, and she’s in heaven! Mariposa is diabetic, but don’t let that stand in your way of adding her to your family! She needs an insulin injection twice a day, and it's quick and easy because Mariposa is so cooperative. And don't worry about the cost; we will provide the insulin for her lifetime! Mariposa is currently on an extended Frosted Fling, so we can learn what she like in a home setting. Her Fling Mom shared this rave review: "Little Mariposa is a puppy in disguise! She has that playful energy and wants to give you lots of kisses. She is leash trained and walks great with my dog. Mariposa gets along with all types of people. She has been to big family gatherings and enjoyed the attention everyone gave her including children as young as 5. Mariposa seems to get along well with all dogs she has met, including my own. I have two shy cats who run from her, but Mariposa does not give chase. Mariposa is house-trained and lets me know that she has to go potty by running to the back door. Mariposa is great in the car and enjoys going new places and meeting new people. When she's at home alone, she doesn't exhibit any separation anxiety. If you are looking for a sweet, loving, fun energetic dog, Mariposa is perfect. Mariposa is diabetic and has to get an insulin shot after each meal. She knows she gets one and anticipates it. She is used to getting them and does not fight it. It takes about 5 seconds and its over. She gets a small treat afterwards to promote good behavior. Please give Mariposa a chance, you will be loved beyond measure. She's a gem!" Email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org to schedule a time to meet a new best friend who is the perfect balance of loving and fun!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mariposa, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
