Drake is a young pup who’s still learning the ropes. After being found as a stray on 3/4 she was quickly adopted but then returned due to her puppy mannerisms. Drake needs a patient and structured home that can help her build confidence and learn good habits. With guidance, consistency, and positive reinforcement, Drake has the potential to become a loyal best friend. She’s looking for someone who understands that every dog deserves a chance to succeed—could that be you? Drake is currently eligible for rescue, to an experienced foster and adoption. Head to ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering her! She barks some at her kennel door to come out but she’s as friendly as can be. She did great at the photo shoot today. Per volunteer 4/12: Gentle young pup, a little nervous but sweet. Housebroken but hadn’t been out in two days. Went as soon as we got outside. Playgroup 4/12: Crouched posture, tucked tail at gate. In yard, tolerant (no corrections given) but avoidant. Per day trip 4/9: Drake did even better today than our day trip on Monday. She learned how to walk properly on a leash! I thought that would be the biggest red flag about her (without knowing about her separation anxiety). She continued to be incredibly jovial with strangers and wanted to say hi to people along the trail. She was also very interested in meeting other dogs. Her skin is worse than on Monday. Incredibly dry with dandruff. I gave her a bath today (which she tolerated), but the dandruff was back quickly. She also had diarrhea 3x today and was passing gas (none on Monday). Still no accidents in the house or indoors. She waited until we were outside each time to relieve herself. Such a good girl. Per Volunteer 4/9: Drake was such a delight to take out! When I came into her kennel room, she was super sweet with soft eyes when I approached. I opened her kennel door and she came out slowly and allowed me to leash her easily. She pulled on our initial walk and you could tell she was trying to find a grass spot to go to the bathroom, and when she did, she relieved herself immediately- she is trying to stay house trained. In the dog yard she was really gentle with treats and sat patiently. She loves her stuffy toys and ca n entertain herself, throwing them back and forth She is a very good girl! 04/08/2025 Day Trip Notes: I cried giving Drake back today after hearing that this is her 3rd time at ACCT within a month or so. What an amazing dog. It's hard to believe anyone would give her up. She was so easy, affectionate, friendly, and well mannered. What an athletic and fearless girl. She jumped right into my car and sat calmly the entire car ride. No shuffling back/forth or nervous behavior. Drake sat still and looked out the window or looked forward to see where we we're headed! I briefly took her into work 3x today to have meetings, as well as to meet staff and guests. She did amazingly with everyone (men and women). Very calm and sweet. Drake would always come back to me after meeting a new person. She seems very focused and aware of her surroundings. She quickly started to follow me everywhere and was ready to do whatever I was doing or go wherever I was going. What a pal. She's a best friend in the making. We got a lot of walking in and she loved being on the move. Drake was very curious to meet any dog she saw - she would try to pull towards them. Not vocal or threatening, just very curious and playful. She tried to chase birds and squirrels, but she's light enough to redirect. If you can get her attention (by calling out to her), she stops chasing them instantly. Drake also loved walking up and down every set of stairs along Spruce Street to see what's at the top. But, she never walked the same set of stairs twice! She seems so smart and curious. Drake does pull on a leash because she's focused and on a mission to explore. She's easy to redirect, but will need time learning not to pull and stay by one's side. She was already making improvements with the leash by the end of our day together. I took her into our home to see how she would do. She had no accidents and waited to go outside to pee/poop several times. Drake is incredibly agile and had no issues racing up/down our floating stairs which was scary for our recently passed dog. She also went in/out the doggy door like a pro. No fear and showed complete ease and comfort being in our home. She quickly found the dog beds and toys and started romping around and making herself at home. What a sweetheart. Drake was a model dog for taking treats: extremely gentle. She's a neat eater, too! Personally, I love a dog who is ready to be on the go all day. Drake is the perfect dog for a runner, someone who is very active and/or has lots of time to spend with her. I believe she's still young and has a lot of puppy-like energy to burn. I would NOT recommend leaving her home alone for 8 hours/day. She's not the kind of dog that would be fulfilled sleeping all day. Her mind is sharp and active, and she has the athleticism to back it up! She was happy to nap after a full day of accompanying me. I had the best day with Drake. She was the perfect buddy to do all the things I wanted from running errands, having meetings to walking for miles, and also playing and snuggling at home. She made me very proud by only wanting to eat healthy snacks, too! She loved rice, salmon, taro, and healthy treats from PS&Co. We stopped by Doggy Style for fun and she spat out the dog treat they gave her, so nothing processed for our girl, please! :) Everyone who met Drake today fell in love with her. The soulfulness in her eyes is noticeable. She's clearly a special dog who senses the energy and people around her. We hope she finds the perfect person or family who will give her the time and attention a smart and kind dog like her deserves. Per staff 4/6: Met a large pit on our way to do a meet with another dog. She quickly began initiating play and jumping up on him even though he was probably twice her weight. We then met another dog who was very tall but lean and she was very interested in him and jumped up on him as well. Drake was adopted on 3/23 and returned on 4/6 due to the owner having to leave town. They described Drake as "Very friendly likes to go for walks, love kids she listens when you say sit" They noted she was friendly with strangers and children and curios around cats and dogs. They also noted "She seems a little timid and puts her head down if you seem disappointed. She is very friendly and likes to be under you. She will chill next to you and lay. She will bark if someone is at the door." They also noted she was mostly housetrained. Per staff on 3/16: Found crated in ISO appearing to tolerate her crate well. Leashed, walked, and returned with no issue whatsoever. Very gentle, demure softie. Drake was adopted on 3/5 and returned on 3/12 for not being housetrained and for being destructive when left alone. They also indicated that Drake was good with their 6 year old child. 03/05/2025 staff notes: Timid girl but oh so sweet and gentle. She did very well with a 6 year old today. She sits and takes treats gently. Allows pets and comes right over to sit by your legs. Very sweet baby MEDICAL NOTES: Drake was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection on 3/13. PCR test results came back positive for pneumovirus. Drake was relocated to ISO to quarantine and recover. Drake was spayed on 3/7. During an intake exam on 3/5, staff noted: Microchip Found?
