My story

Meet Casia, a high-energy sweetheart with so much love to give… who’s still learning how to share it. Casia is curious, affectionate, and smart. She knows “sit,” takes treats gently, and gives sweet tail wags once she feels safe. She enjoys exploring outdoors and lights up around kind, patient people. Casia’s recent return to the shelter let us learn more about what she truly needs: a home without young kids and with adults who understand her needs and are comfortable working through some behavioral quirks. In her previous home, Casia showed signs of resource guarding, growling when approached near her food, water, or toys. She did not get the full decompression time she needed, so she’s still working on confidence and boundaries. But with a home willing to give her space, structure, and continued training, Casia has every chance to thrive. Meet Casia at ACCT Philly any day of the week between 10 am & 6 pm. She’s waiting for someone to give her the understanding, second chance she deserves. VIDEOS: Playgroup 6/13: Cocoa, Luffy, Scarlet, Casia https://youtu.be/oXaJhCBYb7U Playgroup 6/13: Cocoa, Luffy, Scarlet, Casia (2) https://youtu.be/ea3x4bf9e7E Casia, Romeo, Nala Bones, and Ernie drop leash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9h1wCgAZbI BEHAVIOR 04/14/2025 staff notes: Did a fence meet with Kage. She had a middle tail wagging, ears back, approached with body to the side. We did not proceed further due to Kage's behavior. When placing her back in the ISO crate she pancaked when I reached to take the leash off. I used treats to make her more comfortable.04/07/2025 staff notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Casia was on the backside of her kennel laying down. I called her over to the front but she did not move so I closed the divider and went to the backside. She stayed laying down as i opened the divider and let me easily leash her. Once secured she came right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally – walked with a tucked tail in kennel but a mid level wagging tail around people HANDLING : In the room, Casia sniffed around curiously and was very affectionate. She is a timid and laid back girl with some uncertainty. She was a little nervous on and off but stayed pretty consistent with how social and friendly she was. She allowed all hadnl;ing and was tolerant as I checked her ears and feet specifically. She took treats gently and stayed seated before I could even ask her to. With some more and time and patience, her confidence will grow like her love for people did. PLAY: Nervous but seemed interested TOYS: Minimal interest 04/05/2025 volunteer notes, Playgroup: Gentle and dainty. Cautious at first. Began to open up the more time she was in the yard. Offered a couple play moves. Would benefit from more playgroup to open up more. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
