** $500 in pledges for the rescue that pulls! ** Kage ACCT-A-216648 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Kage must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER and/or ADOPTER by Tuesday, April 29th at 10AM. Should Kage's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Found as a stray on April 2nd, Kage is a handsome, high‑energy boy whose whole body wiggles the moment you pick up a leash. He’s people‑oriented to the core—eager to show off his “sit,” “down,” “paw,” and “leave it,” then lean right in for head scratches and praise. Outdoors he loves to explore, jumping sky‑high with puppy‑like enthusiasm and happily taking treats (though he may snatch if you don’t use an open palm). Kage is still polishing his manners when the world around him gets exciting, so an adopter who can give him consistent structure, daily exercise, and continued training will help him shine. In return, you’ll get a smart, affectionate adventure partner who can’t wait to trade the shelter for a home—and a person—of his very own. Per staff 04/14/2025: In iso, was eager to go for a walk and pulled hard outside. Met Casia through the fence and had a high tail flagging, fixated eyes, was muzzle punching the fence and did some air snaps at her face. He allowed me to pet him all over with middle tail wagging, ears back, very wiggly and moving all over the place! Friendly and affiliative to the handler. Easy to return to kennel. 04/13/2025 Per staff: Good on leash but will fixate and pull towards other dogs super strong. Gets super wiggly when being pet, jumps super high! (on ISO board 4/13, unsure of day written) Per volunteer 4/6/25: Took Kage outside today but never dropped leash with him. He was easy to leash from his kennel but his tail went high as soon as he was out into the shelter. I don’t think Kage is comfortable around other dogs. His tail never lowered while we were outside. He sniffed around and pooped while outside. A couple of times I was able to get his attention for treats and he was obedient and sat for them but a little snatchy if I tried to hand him a treat. He saw some little dogs and fixated for the rest of our time outside on the small dogs. I tried to help him settle a bit but he only worked himself up more. I returned him to kennel and he lunged at Goodman (his neighbor) but I was able to quickly steer him into his kennel next door. I brought him a lickymat to help soothe him and his tail had relaxed to mid level wags. I informed the behavioral team. Playgroup 04/03/2025 PGN: Muzzled and was assertive. Did not feel comfortable, keeping him out in the yard for further evaluations. Per staff 04/02/2025 Dog let handling all over he knows sit, down, leave it, no, and he gives paw Medical Notes: 04/23/2025 Tech Exam for persistent URI.
