My story

NOTE: SEVA IS WITH A FOSTER CARETAKER IN DAVIS, CA. GSRSV HAS NOT MET SEVA. WE ARE LISTING SEVA ON THIS WEBSITE ALONG WITH OUR OWN DOGS TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. PLEASE SEE END OF THIS ADOPTION PROFILE FOR CONTACT INFO. "Seva" is a nearly 7-yo (born 3-1-18), 77-lb, spayed female GSD who is engaging, sweet and smart. She is sensitive and very curious and is interested in all that is going on around her. Seva is healthy and up-to-date on core vaccinations. Seva absolutely loves people. She is immediately friendly with strangers both inside the house and beyond. Though Seva has not been observed with children since she was brought into a foster home last October, it’s extremely likely she’ll be good with kids as she has gentle mannerisms with people. Seva has not had much exposure to other dogs, but she has been non-reactive towards dogs who she’s encountered at the vet and at the groomer. However, Seva is quite reactive towards other dogs who she sees when out on walks. This is not an uncommon behavior for GSDs who have not been well-socialized with other dogs; the leash either creates or exacerbates the behavior. It is also a behavior that can often be mollified without too much difficulty. Seva has already shown improvement with her on-leash reactiveness towards other dogs since transferring to her foster home. Seva has not been around cats since she was brought into her foster home, and it is unknown if she had any previous exposure. Therefore, a home without cats is preferred. Seva is housetrained and perfectly behaved inside when left alone. She sleeps on her foster caretaker’s bed at night. Seva is well-behaved overall. She is very good on leash without distractions. However, she can be reactive towards other dogs that she sees while on walks. (Her foster caretaker has worked with Seva to curb this behavior.) Seva has good off-leash recall. Seva rides politely in a vehicle. She likes to play fetch and tug-of-war. Seva in AKC-registered and has an impressive pedigree. She was bred at a prestigious kennel in Cotati, CA, Covey-Tucker Hill Kennels. One of her predecessors (“Manhattan”) was the first German Shepherd to win Best in Show at the Westminster Dog Show in 1987. Seva’s person contracted cancer and was no longer able to care for her. A friend of hers (Ron) took in Seva back in October 2024 in order to find her a permanent new home. Seva is located in Davis. Her adoption fee is $100. Please contact Ron Fader at 530-220-2429.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Seva, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
