My story

Newt is a one year old American terrier pit, Staffordshire mix that weighs 44 pounds and came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as an stray on 2/24. He did his business when he got out into the yard and then came and stayed close to me. Several times even though it was a nice day he stood by the door indicating he’s probably been an inside dog. He came to me when I called him. He sits for treats, but does get excited. Once he settles down he takes treats gently. He’s playful, extroverted, very alert, active, and friendly. He wags his tail constantly indicating he’s a happy boy. He’s also very affectionate and loves to have his ears scratched. He walks well on a leash. He was not interested in meeting other dogs. If you have another dog please ask the shelter for a dog test. He promises to love his new family and be a very loyal companion. He would most likely do well with children. He wants to lay at your feet or next to you on the couch while you watch television or read a good book.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Newt, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
