My story

***LOCAL ADOPTER NEEDED! Maize is scheduled to be neutered on 7/24 so adopter must be willing to bring back for his surgery to the PLR partner vet in Apex!*** Maize is a 7-month-old Shepherd/Lab mix with a heart full of love and energy to spare. He’s a friendly, curious, and active pup who’s ready to find a home that can keep up with his playful spirit and help him continue to grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. Maize is social and well-rounded — he gets along great with other dogs and has done well around cats. He’s still young, so a home with adults or older kids would be the best fit for his size and energy level. He's fully housebroken and crate trained, sleeping comfortably through the night and relaxing in his crate when home alone. Maize is also getting the hang of house manners like staying off furniture and resisting the temptation of countertops — he’s a quick learner with the right redirection and some chew toys to keep him busy. Leash walks are part of his routine (he usually does 3–4 miles every other day!) and he’s improving on not pulling with his harness. Maize would love an active home where he can enjoy the outdoors and have plenty of time for play, walks, and companionship. Maize is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and currently on preventative medication. He’s not yet neutered, but that will be part of his adoption agreement.
