A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by my friends at Tito's Handmade Vodka. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $200.00 will be applied during the contract process. Hello, My name is Greta. I came from IL. I was an owner surrender to a clinic since it is suspected hydrocephaly and vision impairment. She originally came in under the hospice program but after vetting assessment it was determined she still has quite a bit of life to live so she "graduated" and became adoptable. From her foster: Greta's vision is impaired but she maps her space and settles in very well. Keeping her safe with a baby gate going to any stairs would be important. She is still quite a puppy at heart and loves to zoom in a fenced in back yard when she gets the chance. She does very well with potty training on a very frequent schedule. She does not whine to go out but she does sniff and spin so there are signs. Greta is truly like any other puppy once she adjusts to her surroundings. She gets zoomies. She likes squeaky toys and playing with things. Since she does not see well, keeping shoes up high would be important since she doesnt distinguish between toys and not toys. She loves a good nap on a dog bed or couch. She enjoys walks and sun bathing or just listening to the world go by. She is not motivated by treats or human food, but she loves her kibble and pets. She does like to follow other dogs but does not see cues if they are nervous or want to play. Loud noises do startle her so a calm canine friend would be nice for her to follow and cuddle with. She is crate trained, dog friendly, and kid friendly. Greta’s Day In The Life ~Greta needs only a few stairs due to her blindness -She gets around well once she knows the layout of the space/home -Pee, eat, poop & sleep - she repeats this cycle aboit 4 times in a day/24 hour period -She doesn’t drink a lot of water - drinks about twice a day & will drink the whole bowl at a time so you must limit it. -She goes for about 2 walks a day but would do fine with just yard time or play time with other dogs, would also go on more than 2 walks weather permitting -We are told she gets along with other dogs but we do not have any other dogs ourselves -We are told she would be okay around dog savvy cats but we have no cats -She barks when she wants to play -She’s good in kennel for 3-4 hours at a time but sometimes still has accidents both in the kennel and the house -She paces so keeping her to a smaller space would probably be beneficial Please don't let Greta's unique background stop you from giving her a chance! From the Vet: Greta has been diagnosed with suspected congenital hydrocephalus and as a side affect of that has some visual impairment. This means that she might need a little extra help finding her way around. Despite this, she still loves to explore her world and relies on her other senses. Despite this diagnosis Greta can still enjoy a wonderful, full life. However, it is important for her adopter to continue regular check-ups with their primary care veterinarian (DVM) to monitor and manage her condition as she ages. Greta is potty trained, but she does frequently go to the bathroom in her crate. She would do best in a home where her family is home often. Greta came for a vet appointment where we found that she has bilateral knee injuries. Typically this would require surgical intervention, however given Greta's other conditions we are electing medical management of her pain at this point. TBB can offer 1 recheck appointment and 1 round of medications to recheck this condition at the time of adoption when Greta finds her forever family!
