Microchipped - DOB: June 23, 2018 FIV/FeLV NEGATIVE Hello there, my name is Hugo. I'm a healthy three years old cat. When I’m not gazing through the window contemplating life, I’m an excellent ball fetcher. It’s one of my favourite games. The other is chasing either my cat dancer toy or a laser pointer. It almost drives me to madness but I just can’t resist it! When it’s time to sleep at night though, I have no problem curling up in my chair and sleeping through the night. When I start to trust you, you may even find me sleeping by the corner of your bed. I usually like to keep my distance but I love affection and company and will often be in the same room as you. Sometimes, I'll gently tap you or brush up against your leg when I'd like to be pet and when I'm feeling hungry. I love being pet on the top of my head, the sides of my cheeks, on my back and tail. I live for getting brushed daily! And don't get me started on my fave food! Chicken and seafood flavours are so delicious, YUM! I'm very much into treats too! They are a huge source of motivation to me. Full disclosure, I'm a bit of a scaredy cat. I was rescued from a home that had many many cats and was traumatized. I'm still working through my issues but it will take patience and time. I'm gentle by nature (what's hissing even?!) and am curious and friendly with small animals. I've tried making friends with spiders and mice but strangely they were spooked and they shied away from me. I've met one other cat before, I was open and curious to get close to her but she was too shy to get close enough for a greeting. Although I"m sure dogs are lovely, they scare me very much. I realized what a panic attack was the first time I saw one up close. Boisterous kids also scare me. A quiet home, perhaps with a couple of adults or another gentle cat would be ideal for me. As with most scaredy cats, loud noises and sudden movements will get me on high alert but I recover quickly, especially if I trust my surroundings and my human. I can be a bit of a dasher when you want to take me to the vet or give me a health inspection. I know it's for my own good but I can't help feeling very scared. I hope you'll have patience with me, you may have to wrangle me into cooperation but I promise I won't hold grudges for more than a day and will be coming back to you for pets and brushings soon after. When I first arrive, please give me a couple of weeks to adjust. I might be hiding for a little while, coming out to eat and dashing back to the calm place you've made for me. When I do come around, you'll see how much I like having company. I'll even start greeting you at the door when you come home and bidding you farewell when you go. While you won't be able to pick me up and cuddle, the right home for me will appreciate that I like my space and that I respect yours. I'm also very respectful of your personal items and plants. I like to sniff things but I'm not a destroyer of things. I have my toys and that's what I like to play with! I'm perfectly litter trained and an excellent groomer. Even though my hair is kind of long and luxurious, I've only ever coughed up one hairball. If you’re looking for a friend who is curious and playful, resilient, gentle and affectionate, look no further, I’m your cat!
