My story

Microchipped, DOB: March 10, 2020 Here’s how sweet Lilly feels about some things. Being touched: No thanks! Lilly is still incredibly shy and does not like to be touched or pet. When she wants to socialize she will come to you, curling up to sleep with you in bed, or sit with you on the couch. Do not attempt to catch her, she will become scared and aggressive out of fear, scratching and biting. She is improving with the use of toys and treats as a means to distract her and bring her close, touch her briefly, then repeat playing/feeding so she develops trust. This will likely take months to years. Being held: Nope! Do not attempt to pick Lilly up unless it’s absolutely necessary. Loud noises: Scared, but not too large an issue. Lilly will jump startle to loud sounds, but usually settles quickly. Fast movements: Minor fear, usually will become alert but not flee. Diet/intestinal: Very sensitive; do not change diet once a food is chosen, and use treats sparsely. Do not give human food. Quirks: Lilly’s meows often sound like barks or coyotes, short calls that are incredibly sweet. She LOVES playing with toys and running and jumping, and would appreciate a stick with a string and a hanging feather on it – she will play for hours until panting if you let her, so make sure to take breaks and provide water! Lilly is shy and doesn’t like being touched, but she is also sweet. She will lick your hands and feet when you are sitting quietly and she comes up to you, and will gladly eat food out of your hands and wait patiently. Lilly is also VERY smart – she understands no, down, come, and dinner, and is very responsive to eye signals and words. I can ask her to get down off the counter without moving or raising my voice, and she will. She is also too smart for her own good, and will get into trouble – If you have plants, other animals, wires, or things that can be knocked over, consider repositioning them. She loves to climb and explore, and while she doesn’t usually knock things over intentionally, she will hop over things and accidentally hit them. She also will chew any and all wires, so secure them!!! Lilly does incredibly well with other cats, and would do best in a quiet home with another cat (ideally her sister Azalea!). She should go to someone that has experience with cats, and is willing to work with her to develop trust. She may never be comfortable being touched by people, and her family must be aware of that.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lilly, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
