My story

Note: Currently Tiki is in Korea, but he will arrive in Toronto once adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click here.Adopt Tiki, the Quiet Little Poodle GentlemanTiki is a calm, gentle little poodle who rarely barks, and he’s happiest sharing a cushion with a quiet dog friend.Quick FactsBreed: Poodle · Sex: Male · Born: August 2021 · Weight: 3.5 kg · Location: Korea · Traits: Calm, gentle, quiet · Health: Neutered, vaccinated, patella surgery completedBackgroundIn the fall of 2025, Tiki was rescued from a puppy mill in Gimpo, Korea. He was a little shy at first, but he was always gentle. Since his rescue, he’s been cared for by our team in Korea, and he really opened up.PersonalityTiki is a calm, well mannered little dog. When someone comes into his kennel in the morning, he quietly wags his tail and waits to be let out. He loves treats, and he isn’t a fan of loud noises. His energy level is on the lower side of moderate, and when he’s on his own, he rests on his cushion. With new people, places, and things, he likes to watch from his own spot first. After a while, he’ll quietly walk over to explore. If someone reaches for him too quickly, he may back away, but when he’s approached slowly and gently, he’s happy to be petted right away. He stays calm and still when he’s held.CompatibilityWhen Tiki meets someone new, he’ll walk over quietly, take a look, and then go back to his spot. He’s comfortable with both men and women. When he met preschool children, he stayed calm and still while they petted him, but he moved away when they ran around noisily or tried to grab him. Tiki is very gentle with small dogs. His favourite friends are the quiet ones who like to rest on the same cushion with him. He doesn’t guard his food or toys.Tiki hasn’t lived with cats before, so we can’t say for certain how he’d do. Knowing his easygoing nature, though, we think it’s possible with a slow, gradual introduction, plenty of patience, and enough space for each of them to have their own retreat while they get used to one another.Behaviours & TrainingTiki uses pee pads indoors. He’s still practicing walking on a leash and harness. He stays quiet in the car and is good at the vet. He’s calm and easygoing during baths, brushing, and nail trims. He doesn’t chew things he shouldn’t, and he almost never barks. He knows his name. He shows no signs of separation anxiety, and we think he’d simply rest while you’re out.Health & DietTiki is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. He takes monthly parasite preventatives. In December, 2025, he had surgery on his right kneecap (patella), and he has recovered well. He recently had a dental scaling, and seven teeth were extracted. Some of his teeth were missing from the start, and he has very few upper front teeth, but it doesn’t stop him from enjoying his meals. He has no known allergies. He has passed the veterinary screening and is healthy and ready for a forever home.He eats kibble twice a day and has not shown any food allergies or sensitivities so far. He eats everything well.Ideal HomeTiki would do best in a quiet home, ideally with another calm dog he can keep company. He can be a little shy at first, so it’s best to give him space and let him come to you in the beginning. He isn’t the type to ask for attention, except when treats are around, but he quietly accepts gentle pets right away. He’d do best with an experienced, patient adopter. Someone who’s retired or works from home and has had dogs before would be ideal.Tiki has a quiet, gentle heart, and he’s ready to share it with a family of his own. If you’d like a peaceful little friend resting on the cushion beside you, Tiki is waiting for you.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Tiki, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
