My story

QUICK FACTS Name: Wandu Age: 1 year and a half Gender: Male (Neutered) Breed: Maltipoo Color: Cream Weight:  5.5kg / 12lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY My life suddenly changed when my previous owner was arrested and sent to prison, leaving me without a home or anyone to care for me. Sadly, volunteers and staff believe I may have experienced abuse or mistreatment in my previous home, as some of my behaviours suggest I've been through difficult experiences. Although no one knows exactly what happened, it's clear that I need some extra care and understanding. Thankfully, I'm now safe and getting the care I deserve. I'm ready to leave my uncertain past behind and find a loving family who will help me feel secure, build my confidence, and finally experience the happiness of a forever home!   MY HEALTH All vaccinations up-to-date Healthy with no known health issues   MY PERSONALITY I'm a smart and affectionate boy who already knows a few tricks, including "sit" and "paw"! I absolutely love people and enjoy being close to my favourite humans. I'll happily follow you around, hoping for some extra pets, cuddles, and attention. During my profile photoshoot, I kept wanting to go back inside to be with the volunteers and staff rather than stay outside for my pictures. What can I say? I just love being around people! Although I'm incredibly friendly, I do have a sensitive side. When I sense that someone is about to raise their voice, I can become frightened and try to hide. Loud or harsh tones make me nervous, so I feel most comfortable around people who speak to me calmly and gently. I'm a loving boy who enjoys human companionship, and I would thrive in a home where I can feel safe, understood, and cherished!   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: I'm a super friendly and affectionate boy who loves meeting new people! I'm always happy to greet everyone I meet and soak up all the pets and attention they're willing to give me. I also don't mind being picked up and held, especially when it means getting some extra cuddles! During my profile photoshoot, I had the best time snuggling with the volunteers and enjoying all the affection they gave me. What can I say? I'm a total cuddle bug who loves being close to people! If you're looking for a sweet, loving companion who will happily soak up your affection, I might just be your perfect match! · With Dogs: I'm friendly with other dogs and enjoy greeting new friends, but I usually prefer doing my own thing rather than jumping into playtime. I'm more of a people's pup and would much rather spend time with my favourite humans, soaking up pets, cuddles, and affection! · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown.   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring, and having fun, but once I’ve had my activity and excitement, I’m more than happy to come inside and relax comfortably indoors.   TRAINING & HABITS I'm still learning my leash manners, but I'm making great progress with every walk! There's so much for me to learn and explore, and I'm doing my best to become a wonderful walking companion. With a little patience and practice, I'm sure I'll continue to improve! When it comes to mealtime, I'm a good boy who enjoys his food without showing any guarding behaviours around people or other dogs. I'm also comfortable going potty both outdoors and indoors on pee pads, which gives me some flexibility as I settle into my future home. I'm a smart boy who's eager to learn, and with a loving family to guide me, I know I'll continue developing good habits!   MY IDEAL HOME I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: • A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself in a stable environment • A family that understands my past and is patient with me throughout • A family that enjoys indoor and outdoor time together • A family that will love and cherish me forever   SPECIAL NOTES I'm a bright, happy boy with so much love to give! Although I have a cheerful personality, volunteers and staff have noticed a hint of loneliness in me, as though I'm longing for someone to love and call my own. I'm also very sensitive to the emotions of those around me and quick to pick up on changes in people's moods. Volunteers suspect this may be connected to my past, where I might have felt the need to constantly be on my best behaviour and walk on eggshells. Despite everything, I haven't lost my loving spirit! I'm looking for a gentle, understanding family who will make me feel safe, cherished, and loved unconditionally.
