My story

Cody is a 9 years-young sweetheart who is looking for a special person to call his own. He is being fostered in the Ottawa a area Cody is a loving, sensitive boy who wants nothing more than to be by your side. He has clearly been through some difficult experiences, and he is learning that he is safe, loved, and no longer has to worry about being hurt. With patience, kindness, and reassurance, Cody continues to make wonderful progress. This sweet boy loves being close to his people and will happily keep you company while you work, relax, or go about your day. He may occasionally jump up to ask for attention, but he is learning that he doesn't need to worry because his people will always make time for him. Cody isn't particularly interested in toys or playing with other dogs just yet, but with time and gentle encouragement, he may discover these joys. He enjoys treats and food, which are great motivators for positive training. He is crate trained and house trained and walks very well. He would be fine with dogs, dog savvy cats and respectful children 6+ Cody's ideal home is: Cody would thrive with a loving person or family who enjoys having a devoted companion close by. He would love a home with a securely fenced yard or safe outdoor space, and a family where someone is home for a good part of the day. Apartment living may be possible, depending on the building rules and how long he would be left alone. Cody needs a patient home that understands sensitive dogs and will help him build confidence at his own pace. A calm, gentle approach and positive reinforcement will help him continue to blossom. If you're looking for a loyal best buddy who will treasure your company and give you all the love in his heart, Cody could be your perfect match. Cody doesn't ask for much — just love, patience, and someone who will show him that he matters. Could you be his person?

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cody, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
