My story

As a dog, you dream of having a stable home and parents who will do whatever they can to keep you safe — from puppyhood through your senior years. That’s the deal. But sadly, not every dog is that lucky. Some find themselves ditched, dumped, or forgotten. Others are surrendered to a safe place, like a shelter, where they can hopefully find a second chance. Meet Queenie and Summer. ❤️ These two beautiful ladies were surrendered after their owner had to leave the country. One moment, they were peacefully sleeping in their beds, surrounded by everything they knew. The next, they were brought to a building filled with unfamiliar sights, sounds, smells, and people. And to make things even harder, they are both seniors. Queenie and Summer are bonded. Their owner may have had to leave them, but they will never leave each other. That’s what sisters do. They comfort each other, support each other, and face the unknown together. When they first arrived, they were understandably confused. New place. New smells. New people. A giant foster brother. And a two cats. “This is new. This is scary.” And that’s when experienced, loving fosters step in and say: “I’ve got you.” “You’re safe.” “I won’t give up on you.” Slowly, something magical begins to happen. They start to trust. They begin to realize that they can be loved, cared for, and safe again. And now, we have some wonderful news. ❤️ Both girls have had all of their medical needs taken care of, and they are no longer living with the discomfort they arrived with. Those severely rotten teeth have been removed, and they can finally enjoy life without that pain. We were keeping everything crossed for Queenie because she has an enlarged heart. Thankfully, her condition is not as advanced as we had initially anticipated. She doesn’t require medication at this point, although regular checkups will be important so we can keep a close eye on her heart. And perhaps the best news of all? These two girls still have years ahead of them to enjoy the retirement they so deeply deserve. 🥰 Now we’re looking for their forever home. Queenie and Summer are extremely laid-back pups. They’re happiest simply chilling with their people, enjoying the comforts of home and each other’s company. They would do best in a home with fewer stairs, where life can be a little slower and easier. If you’re retired, work from home, or simply love the idea of having two sweet senior girls happily snoozing beside you, Queenie and Summer could be your newest family members. ❤️ They’ve already been through the confusion of losing the only home they knew. They’ve had their medical care. They’ve learned to trust again. Now they just need someone to say: “You’re home. And this time, it’s forever.” Queenie and Summer have already lost so much. Their second chance is here. And we’re determined to make it count. ❤️🐾
