After a long run of zoomies with his dog friends, he walks over to the nearest person, climbs into their lap, and falls asleep right there. He's a happy, friendly 9 month old Chihuahua who loves people, and he makes that clear the moment you walk in.Quick Facts: Breed: Chihuahua · Sex: Male · Born: December 1, 2025 (9 months old) · Weight: 2.9 kg · Location: Korea · Traits: Playful, friendly, loves people · Health: Neutered, vaccinated, healthyBackground: Tongki was rescued from a puppy mill in Gimpo in December 2025, when he was so young his eyes hadn't opened yet. He has grown up at our partner shelter ever since, around people and other dogs. He's turned into a confident, curious little puppy who runs toward the world instead of away from it.Personality: The staff describe Tongki as exactly what a 9 month old puppy should be. When someone comes into the kennel in the morning, he barks for them to hurry up and let him out. His favorite things are racing around with his dog friends, playing with toys, and treats. New people, new places, and new objects all get the same reaction: he runs straight over to say hello. His energy level is moderate. He plays hard and then sleeps hard, and when he's on his own he's usually napping.Compatibility: Tongki isn't shy with strangers at all. He walks right up with his tail wagging to greet them, and he treats men and women the same. He has played happily with young children under school age. He does have his own ideas about cuddles. If you hold him when he doesn't want to be held, he'll wiggle to get down. When he's the one who wants to be held, he stays put even if you try to set him down.Tongki hasn't lived with cats before, so we can't say for certain how he'd do. Knowing his friendly nature, though, we think it's possible with a slow, gradual introduction, plenty of patience, and enough space for each of them to have their own retreat while they get used to one another.He gets along well with small dogs his own size, and his favorite way to play is running around together at full speed. If he sees a big dog from a distance, he may bark. Tongki isn't a pushover, and he likes to keep what's his. At treat time, he'll give a little grumble if another dog comes too close. Giving treats and meals with a bit of space between dogs keeps things calm.Behaviours & Training: Tongki uses an indoor pad about 80% of the time and is still learning. He's practicing walking on a leash and harness. He rides quietly in his crate in the car, behaves well at the vet, and is good about baths, nail trims, and brushing. The one thing he doesn't enjoy is having his face touched, like during grooming or a vet check. He likes to chew his toys, and when he's bored he's been known to chew on drawer handles, so plenty of toys will help. He knows his name. He barks when he sees a big dog through the window or when someone comes over. When he's told to stop, he barks a few more times and then settles.Health & Diet: Tongki is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and up to date on all his vaccinations. He takes a monthly parasite preventative. He has an overbite, which is common in small dogs, and it doesn't get in the way of eating or playing. His teeth are clean and none are missing. He has no known allergies, no digestive or skin issues, and no history of additional surgeries or treatments. He has passed the veterinary screening and is healthy and ready for a forever home. He eats kibble twice a day and has not shown any food allergies or sensitivities so far. He isn't picky, though he can tell when medicine is mixed into his food and will leave it.Ideal Home: Tongki would do best with someone who works from home or is retired, so he isn't left alone for long stretches and has company throughout the day. As a young dog still new to the world, he'll thrive with a patient adopter who can guide him gently through new experiences as he grows. He's an easy, happy, playful puppy, and a very smart boy. His ideal family would spend lots of time with him, doing things together and playing with him every day. Another playful, friendly dog in the home would be wonderful for him too. He isn't asking for much. All he needs is love and patience.
