My story

Gizmo's story is one of those that reminds you why rescue matters. He arrived at the shelter as a stray and, for the first month, he struggled terribly with shelter life. He was so shut down that he had to be carried from room to room. But even while his spirit was hurting, the wonderful dog underneath was still shining through - and the shelter staff absolutely adored him. Gizmo became a staff favorite and the shelter's longest resident, with everyone desperately hoping someone would finally see what they saw in him. Sadly, with the shelter overflowing and so many dogs competing for space, Gizmo eventually found himself on the euthanasia list. We got him out just days before his time ran out, and the shelter staff celebrated through tears, incredibly grateful that this special boy finally got his chance. And what a difference that chance has made! Gizmo has blossomed into the coolest little guy. He LOVES his walks and gets adorably excited when he realizes it's time to go. He listens beautifully, knows his commands, and is so well behaved that sometimes he'll hop right back into his kennel before anyone has even asked him to! He's affectionate, friendly, smart, easygoing and wonderful with everyone - adults, kids, dogs and even cats. He's house trained, crate trained, non-destructive and not reactive on leash. Basically, Gizmo is the kind of dog who makes you wonder how on earth he ever ended up homeless in the first place. He was given a second chance, and now he's ready to give someone a whole lot of love in return. Honestly, if circumstances were different, he's one of those dogs I'd have a very hard time letting go. Someone is going to be VERY lucky to call this sweet boy theirs.
