My story

Donatello isn’t just another sad shelter boy. He is beautiful and sensitive. Donatello has a lot of shelter scaries. Sometimes we have to carry him like a baby (shucks). He also looks for escape routes, even using us as a makeshift ladder to get out. He’s trying to get back somewhere familiar but that isn’t an option. Donatello is a lovely boy even in his saddest state. Imagine how wonderful he will be once he feels safe and loved. Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm. All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend, and can arrange, dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.
