My story

Coming Soon!   Meet Miss Ellie! She is a sweet, 6-year-old, 20-pound full Dachshund!   Ellie came to us after having two loving and devoted homes, but due to serious human medical issues, she has now landed safely with us. Luckily, this sweet, easy-going girl really does go with the flow, and as long as someone wants to love her, she is here for it!   Ellie gravitates a bit more towards females but honestly loves everyone! She is great with kids, dogs, and cats... not so much birds, though! She is a lightly active dog that likes to play a bit of fetch and go on little walkies. She is currently a bit chubby, so she is also learning to swim as a form of exercise. Gotta get that summer bod back!   She kennels well if needed but also does very well left alone in the house! You will NEED stairs for her to access furniture and the bed safely and not injure her back, as she is not a tiny girl. She is potty pad and outdoor trained! Good in the car. Loves to burrow and snuggle in bed with you! And she is pretty quiet for a Dachshund—some happy chatting, but not much at all!   Ellie unfortunately does struggle with Dachshund skin allergies/eczema that is pretty easily managed with medicated shampoos and sprays. Due to a recent outbreak that wasn't able to be managed right away, she does have very little hair at the moment! She is super easy to treat and loves the attention, but it is a bit intensive at the moment, so she will be ready very soon for adoption while we finish getting her through the thick of it! She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and had a recent dental done in March 2026.   Adoption Requirements: Ellie requires a person who doesn't mind a pup with lifelong allergy issues. Someone who understands that prevention, good food, and groomings will solve 70% of any new issues, but also knows she may occasionally need vet help if it gets out of control!   Ellie's adoption fee of $350 helps the rescue with medical expenses incurred. Thank you for choosing to save a life by rescuing your next best friend, Ellie Bellie. I If you are looking for the perfect companion and have the love in your heart to help a little dog in need, please complete our online application at www.helpadogsmile.org.   *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt—it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded directly to the foster family for review and follow-up.  August 6, 2026, 9:24 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ellie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
