My story

QUICK FACTS Name: Khan Age: Around 7-8 years old Gender: Male (Neutered) Breed: Jindo, Shepherd Mix Color: Black & Brown Weight: 19kg / 42lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY I didn't have an easy start in life. Before I was rescued, I spent my days tied to a short chain, guarding a chicken coop. I had no proper shelter or even a dog house to keep me safe, so I endured the scorching summers and freezing winters with little protection. The dusty environment also caused painful eye infections. Thankfully, kind people saw me, knew I deserved better, and gave me the second chance I'd been waiting for. Those difficult days are finally behind me, and now I'm ready to discover what it truly means to be loved. All I'm dreaming of is a forever family who will cherish me, keep me safe, and fill the rest of my life with happiness.   MY HEALTH All vaccinations up-to-date Healthy with no known health issues   MY PERSONALITY Despite my difficult past, I'm an incredibly gentle, calm, and easygoing boy. The volunteers and staff always tell me I'm even more handsome in person, and they often compliment me on how smart I am. They say I have many of the wonderful qualities Jindos and Shepherds are known for: I'm loyal, thoughtful, and quick to learn. I'm also a very quiet companion who doesn't ask for much, making me an easy dog to have around the home. One of my favorite things is receiving gentle head scratches, and I definitely have a soft spot for tasty treats! The moment I hear a treat bag rustle, I'll happily come trotting over to see if one is for me. I also have the cutest habit of giving little nose boops to politely remind you that I wouldn't mind another snack. With my sweet nature, gentle heart, and adorable personality, I'm sure I'll bring endless love and happiness to my future family.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: I'm a sweet, gentle boy who loves spending time with people and soaking up all the attention they have to give. I'd describe myself as a quiet guardian who simply enjoys being by your side, whether we're relaxing at home or exploring the outdoors together. I can be a little shy when we first meet, but a few tasty treats quickly win me over, and before long, I'll happily accept gentle pets and affection. I'm also very gentle with well-mannered children, making me a wonderful family companion. While I'm comfortable being picked up, it's not my favorite thing, so I'd appreciate a family who respects my preference and lets me keep all four paws on the ground whenever possible. · With Dogs: I'm friendly with other dogs and always enjoy saying hello, but I'm not the type to jump straight into play. I prefer to take my time and do my own thing, especially when meeting new dog friends. I have a gentle nature and do especially well with smaller, well-mannered dogs. Very high-energy dogs can sometimes feel a little overwhelming for me, and I may become uncomfortable if they're too boisterous. The good news is that I'm very responsive to my handler and can easily redirect my attention, allowing me to move on and continue enjoying our walk together. · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown. A cat test can be arranged upon request to ensure the best fit. During walks, I look at cats with curiosity but then quickly lose interest and continue with my walk.   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a low to moderate energy level, making me the perfect balance between an adventure buddy and a cuddle companion. I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring new places, and taking leisurely walks where I can sniff to my heart's content and take in all the interesting sights and smells around me. Once I've had my exercise and outdoor fun, I'm more than happy to head back inside, curl up on the couch, and relax. At home, I'm a true couch potato who loves peaceful downtime and simply being close to my family.   TRAINING & HABITS Despite my neglected past and having very little experience walking on a leash before my rescue, I walk wonderfully by my handler's side! I'm attentive and naturally follow your lead, happily adjusting my pace to match yours whether we're taking a leisurely stroll or picking up the pace. Like many curious dogs, I enjoy sniffing and may try to investigate tasty-looking things on the ground, so I'll appreciate a family who keeps a watchful eye during our adventures. I'm a very easygoing companion in many ways. I don't guard my food from either people or other dogs, I rest calmly and quietly in my kennel, and I rarely bark, making me a peaceful presence around the home. I'm also comfortable getting in and out of the car, although car rides themselves are still a little scary for me. With patient encouragement and positive experiences, I'm sure my confidence will continue to grow over time. I also prefer doing all my potty business outdoors and enjoy having a consistent routine.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: • A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself in a stable environment • A family that understands my past and is patient with me throughout • A family that enjoys indoor and outdoor time together • A family that will love and cherish me forever   SPECIAL NOTES I'm currently receiving treatment for an eye infection, and I'm being an absolute superstar! I handle my eye drops like a true gentleman and patiently cooperate during my daily care. The volunteers are always impressed by how well-behaved I am. While I may look like a handsome, dignified boy, I have a wonderfully goofy side that will keep you smiling every day! At home, I'm a certified couch potato who loves relaxing with my favorite people. When I'd like a little extra affection, I'll gently nudge your hand to ask for pets, and if I spot you holding a treat, you can bet I'll politely come over to see if one is for me! Shortly after my rescue, I experienced a bit of a sensitive tummy. Because of that, it's best to introduce richer, high-protein foods gradually to give my digestive system time to adjust. With a slow transition, I do very well and continue to thrive. I'm ready to fill my forever home with laughter, companionship, and plenty of love.   KHAN'S YOUTUBE PLAYLIST   Apply to foster or adopt: https://www.welcomedogkorea.org For Inquiries: info@welcomedogkorea.com ##2803491##
