My story

Hi… my name is Ziva, and I’ve been told it’s finally my turn. For a long time, my world was pretty small. I lived at a home where, one day, everything changed. My family packed up and left… and they didn’t take me with them. I was alone, still caring for my puppies—with no idea what would happen next. But I did what moms do: I stayed strong for them, kept them safe, and loved them with everything I had. Thankfully, kind people from animal control found us and made sure we were okay. Not long after, we were brought here to Central Arizona Animal Rescue, where we were given the care, safety, and comfort we needed. I got to finish raising my puppies in a warm, safe place, and one by one, they all found their own loving homes. And now… it’s my turn to find mine. I’m about 3 years old, a proud German Shepherd with a loyal heart and a playful spirit. Even after everything I’ve been through, I’m still a very sweet girl who just wants a person—or a family—to call my own. One of my favorite things in the world is playing ball. If you toss it, I will chase it with everything I’ve got. Over and over again. It’s my happy place! And when the Arizona sun gets a little too hot for all that running? Don’t worry—I’ve figured out the perfect solution. I love to hop into the pool and cool off before I’m ready for another round. I’m what you might call a “typical shepherd,” which means I like to share my thoughts. I might whine a little or “talk” to you to let you know what I think—whether it’s about playtime, snack time, or just wanting a little attention. I promise it’s all part of my charm. I’m pretty good on a leash already, but I could use a little refresher on my manners. I’m a smart girl, though, and I really do like to learn—especially if it means spending more time with my person. A little training time together will go a long way in helping me be my very best. When it comes to other dogs, I can do well, but I would probably be happiest with a male dog about my size who matches my energy. I like companionship, but I also appreciate having the right kind of friend who understands me. As for cats… that’s a bit of an unknown. I do have a strong prey drive—after all, I love chasing my ball—so any introductions would need to be slow and careful. Or I might do best in a home without cats altogether. The people here have made sure I’m completely ready for my next chapter. I’m spayed, so I’ll never have to raise another litter of puppies again. I’m up to date on all my vaccinations, and I’ve been microchipped—which means no matter what, I’ll always have a way to find my way back home. And oh, how I want a home. I’ve spent so much of my life taking care of others, being strong, and waiting patiently. Now, I’m ready to be the one who gets chosen. I’m ready to have someone throw the ball just for me, sit beside me when I lean in for affection, and reassure me that I’ll never be left behind again. If you’re looking for a loyal companion, a playful best friend, and a dog who will truly bond with you—I could be your girl. All I need is a chance. If you’d like to meet me, please email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment with the wonderful people at Central Arizona Animal Rescue. I’ll be right here, waiting… hoping the next person who walks in is finally my forever. With hope and a wagging tail, Ziva   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt.
