Rescued as a fragile puppy from a city shelter during the harshest part of winter, Starlight is a resilient cream-and-white Jindo mix who has blossomed into a gentle, sweet companion. While she starts out quiet and reserved, her true, affectionate personality shines brightly once she knows she is safe. She is a low-energy, peaceful girl who wants nothing more than to bond deeply with her chosen humans. Because of her background, Starlight navigates the world with a bit of anxiety and looks to others for reassurance. To help her thrive, she has a few specific requirements for her forever home: A Canine Best Friend Required: Starlight absolutely needs a home with another dog. A confident, older dog is highly preferred. She relies heavily on a furry sibling to show her the ropes and prove that the world isn't so scary. A Secure Yard: She is not currently trained to walk on a leash and is a flight risk in new environments. A home with a secure, fenced yard is required so she can safely do her business and stretch her legs. A Quiet Environment: Due to her anxious nature, apartment living is not ideal. She thrives best in a stable, predictable household with adults or patient, older children (12+). Once Starlight trusts you, she is fully handleable, highly loving, and incredibly rewarding to care for. She is already fully house-trained (using both outdoor time and indoor pee pads), crate-trained, and is not a barker or destructive. If you have a patient heart, a confident dog, and a quiet home, Starlight is ready to be your loyal companion. Neck size (for collar): 40 cm Chest circumference (for harness): 65 cm Height (from top of head): 48 cm Length (from nose to base of tail): 57 cm Medical Notes: taking daily anxiety medication, which keeps her feeling more calm and to support her confidence Good with women: Yes, but she will need some time to warm up Good with men: Yes, but she will need some time to warm up Good with kids: Yes, older children (12+) are best due to limited exposure Good with other dogs: Yes, she loves having furry friends around Good with cats: No House trained: Yes, currently mostly uses indoor pee pads Crate trained: Yes Energy level: Low, she is a calm, gentle and quiet companion Can be handled/touched: Yes, once trust is established Barker: No Flight risk: Yes, extra care is needed in new or unfamiliar environments Food aggressive: No Current food: Walks on leash: Not currently, she is still learning to build her leash confidence Leash reactive to people or dogs: No Rides well in car: Unknown at this time Destructive: No Needs a home with a yard: Yes, a secure yard is essential for her success Needs a home with another dog: Yes, a confident older dog is required for her growth Can live in an apartment: Not ideal, as she thrives best in quieter settings Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
