My story

Ripley: 4yrs young male Shih Tzu's Story 🐾 It’s time for Ripley’s adoption debut! 🐾 Meet Ripley—a 4-years-young male Shih Tzu (DOB Nov 2021) He may be small at only 7.5kg but he has a big personality and an even bigger heart ā™„ļø View Ripley's full photo and video album here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.932687089381918&type=3 Ripley came into our care when his beloved senior owner could no longer meet his needs. Since then, he’s been showing us just how special he is. This sweet boy is loving, cuddly, playful, and thrives on companionship. With a moderate energy level, Ripley enjoys regular daily walks, zoomies with dog friends, and interactive games (especially if treats are involved—he’s very food motivated!). He loves other dogs and would do best in a home with a playful canine companion. Ripley is housetrained, crate trained, and settles nicely into a routine once he adapts to his new people and environment. While he can be a bit vocal and has some mild separation anxiety, he feels much more secure when crated while left alone. šŸ” Ideal Home: Ripley is best suited to a detached home due to his vocal nature (no apartments or attached housing). He would thrive in a household where someone is home often to provide the attention, structure, and affection he loves and deserves. 🐶 Good to Know: • Friendly with people -slightly cautious at first • Good leash manners though he would benefit from more training • Still learning basic commands as he had no prior structure or training in his previous home • Not suitable for homes with cats or small animals 🩺 Health & Care: Ripley is fully vetted—up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and his bloodwork is excellent, including a negative 4Dx test/ current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. He was recently groomed and is scheduled for a dental on May 5th. He’ll be ready to head home once he finds his perfect match! šŸ’² Adoption Fee: $850 šŸ“Œ Adoption Requirements: • Inground pools must be fully fenced (no exceptions) • No dog doors- we believe in fully supervised outdoor time for all dogs • Commitment to approved, positive reinforcement training classes ⭐ With a life expectancy of 18+ years, Ripley is not a suitable match for seniors over 65. Our goal is to ensure he never has to face rehoming again and can enjoy a stable, lifelong home. šŸ’« Ripley is truly a ā€œdog lotteryā€ kind of pup—full of love, personality, and joy. He’s ready to give his whole heart to the right family. šŸ’»Apply to adopt Ripley and give him the forever home he deserves! To help guide you through our application process, we have outlined our standard adoption criteria and procedures below. Reviewing the Profile Before submitting an application, we kindly ask that you thoroughly review the dog's entire profile. Each of our rescues has unique needs, and we prioritize matching them with families that meet the specific criteria outlined for their "ideal forever home." The Application Process To maintain the highest standard of care for our dogs, we follow a structured screening process. 1. Vet Quality of Care Check 2. Zoom Home Inspection & Interview 3. In-Person Meeting in St. Jacobs Please note that an approved adoption application is required prior to scheduling any meetings. You may access the application form here: Hobo Haven Dog Adoption Application. 4. Training Commitment Educational Requirement: "Petfooled" As part of our commitment to "know better/do better," we ask all serious applicants to watch the documentary "Petfooled" (available for free on YouTube or Amazon Prime). We believe quality nutrition is just as important as love. This documentary explores the pet food industry and the importance of species-appropriate nutrition. It is purely educational and helps ensure our adoptive families are equipped to provide the best long-term health for our dogs. Please reach out to us again after your family has viewed the documentary to share your feedback or ask any questions you may have. Meet-and-Greet Policy All of our dogs reside in private, volunteer foster homes. To respect the privacy and schedules of our foster families—and due to the high volume of inquiries we receive—meetings are only scheduled for applicants who have been fully approved through our screening process. Next Steps If you believe your home is a great fit for one of our dogs, please submit your application here https://hobohavenrescue.ca/dog-adoption-application

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ripley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
