My story

I know. I hear it all the time. I am Casper, and I am the most beautiful cat you have ever seen, right? The white fur and the black highlights? And the fluff? Yes, my coat is beautiful. I might be “stunning.”People say I am dignified, resilient, gentle and vulnerable in all the right ways. I am special and manageable, but I will take some time. Can you give it?I think I am about 6 years old. I am looking for a special, calm furever home. Is it you? An emotionally intelligent, patient human would be great for me. I lived in a semi-truck depot in Long Beach on the gravel.I have a permanent head tilt from an old inner ear infection that went untreated before I was rescued. The infection is gone now, and my doctors say I’ve come a long way. My head tilt and quirky eye positioning are simply part of who I am these days. When I get stressed, I may circle to the right because of the neurological damage from “yesterday.”I’ve had an MRI and a CT and the infection is gone, since my mom, who made those happen, treated me for several months. There’s nothing else to do here. My blood work and teeth are good! I am also FIV+, but we all know that is just not a thing. I have never bitten a cat, and do not intend to start. :) I am a perfect gentleman. I am great with other cats. I am very obedient, and I like to lounge between the plants in the indoor patio or on a chair. I have come SOOOO far in five months. So far. I use the litter box perfectly, and the scratching post. I like small toys. I crave wet food and I like dry food, too…I mean, from where I came from, this is the Ritz. I’ll stand in the hall at 5:30 p.m. to remind you that it’s time for my favorite canned dinner! Then I’ll turn and scurry SOOOO fast, well, like Road Runner, back to my “place.”I would be best with one experienced cat person who continues to help me earn human trust. I like a routine. Children would not be good because of my near vision issues. Don’t come too close to my face too quickly, or I will not like that. Move gently, and know that I do not want to be touched or held right now, but that will come. Please don’t try until we are both sure.I want my own person or couple. I am used to being in a home now, and I will be such a good boy.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Casper, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
