Socialization: Willy is a friendly pup who enjoys introducing himself to new people. His quiet nature and curiosity allows him to greet with ease and curiosity. In the time he has been here he has clearly enjoyed meeting new friends. Training: My dogs have 24 hour access to their yard via a doggie door. Willy learned quickly that all dogs must use it to go potty outside. In a new home without it he might have to be further house trained. He is very smart and learns easily and although curious if he detects something yummy on the counter, he has never counter surfed here. He does have a tendency to lick my blue jeans if I discard them where he can reach them but he has not chewed or shredded anything in the house. He is a very happy, well behaved pup who wants nothing more than to be loved. Crate trained: I have not crated him though I believe he would be fine for short periods of time. I would not recommend long periods of confinement. Leash trained: Leash training is a work in progress. Activity level/requirements: Willy is a very low key setter. He is happy to just be near you and doesn't require a lot of activity. I think he would be happiest with someone who has lots of time and love to share with him. And, he loves the company of other dogs. Fence requirements: A 4 ft fence is ideal. Willy loves to run outside, explore a bit and come back in the house. I do not recommend an invisible fence as it might scare him to death. I have not tried off leash exercise. Personality: Willy is as sweet natured as they come. He loves everyone he meets and he would fit in easily in any type of environment. It is imperative that he have freedom of movement and a family who will love him and cuddle with him. He was a little timid when he first arrived here but has since blossomed into a very happy, playful pup who will follow you wherever you go. Health history: UTD on vaccinations, is spayed/neutered, microchipped, & on monthly heartworm prevent. Foster comments: Willy is wonderful! Once he has adjusted to a new environment he is a happy little soul. He is very calm for a Setter and he will shadow you wherever you go. He loves to love and be loved. He loves other animals and is a pure delight to have around. I would love to see him find a home where he can live a love filled peaceful life where he has freedom of movement. A retired person or couple would be ideal but a family with older children and another dog would be a good fit too. Foster Location: Geneva, IA Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US within a 1,000-mile distance between adopters & foster home.
