My story

Hi there… I’m True. When I first came to the shelter, I was really scared. I had been out on my own for quite some time, and when the humane officer brought me in, everything felt overwhelming and unfamiliar. I was shy and unsure of the world around me, and it took me a little while to feel safe.But I’ve come a long way since then and I’ve truly started to come out of my shell.I’m the kind of dog who forms deep, meaningful bonds with my people. Once I trust you, I’m all in. I love quiet moments, gentle affection, and having a cozy place where I can relax and feel safe. I’ve discovered that I really love being close to the people I care about. I’ll happily follow you from room to room, just to keep you company and “help” with whatever you’re doing. Being your shadow is kind of my specialty.I also have a sweet, affectionate side that really shines once I’m comfortable. I love pets, I enjoy being hugged, and I’ve even learned how to jump right into the arms of the people I love. It’s my way of saying, “I trust you.”The shelter has been a helpful place for me to grow, and I have made friends here, but it can still feel stressful and noisy. What I really want is a home of my very own. A calm, steady place where I can continue to build my confidence and feel secure every day.I’m hoping to find someone experienced and patient, someone who understands that I may need a little time to adjust but will be so worth it. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home.
