My story

ATTENTION HUSKY LOVERS! We are pleased to introduce our most talkative furry fuzzy girl, Nellie! Nellie is a 1 1/2 year old (DOB 10/30/24) female Siberian Husky who has pretty much every single recognizable trait of a husky! If you know you know! She weighs in at approximately 38 pounds, and she is STUNNING! Nellie is an active, brilliant, vocally gifted, inventive, gorgeous young girl. She has been in the same home since puppyhood, but when they found out they had to make a long distance move, they realized that she needed a soft place to land before they left, and brought her to us. Nellie is used to living in the home and definitely has learned house manners in her life. Usually she was left free in the home while everyone was gone, and had no issues other than randomly here and there. She is house-trained, knows some basic commands like sit, down, and leave it, and really only has one bad habit...taking herself off on an adventure and not letting anyone know where she has gone...it`s a husky thing through and through, but one that definitely will need management. We will require a secure fenced in yard for this girlie. Nellie has lived with kids and has done fine with them - but they were a little older, so it is preferred that she only go to a home with kids 10 and up. She is friendly to everyone she meets - a guard dog is something that she is, emphatically, NOT. She will pull on the leash initially, but if you wait her out for a moment, she settles down for a pleasant walk. She hates thunder (also pretty typical in nordic breeds), and she sees cats as something to be chased and possibly eaten. A feline free home is a must. She loves toys of all shapes and sizes, but we have found her favorite to be stuffed ones she can toss in the air and catch on the way down. She loves her people and wants to be included in everything they do - so a little less aloof than many of her breed. We believe that at some point her coat was shaved and grew back in an interesting color/texture pattern on her lower back. It gives her a very interesting look, no question. Like any Sibe, Nellie sheds. She absolutely will blow her undercoat a minimum of twice a year and will need regular brushing to keep it under control and keep her coat and skin healthy. Having a husky means sharing space with the hair, it`s just a fact! Many people choose to take their huskies to a groomer who can deshed far better than any of us can at home - and it DOES m

If you have any questions or would like to adopt NELLIE, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
