My story

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: RaiderBREED: Rat Terrier DOB: Jan 17, 2026 (9 weeks)GENDER: maleHome Recommendation: Raider would do best in a home that can provide a safe, structured, and loving environment. A puppy-proofed space, a consistent routine, and patience for training are important. An active home that can offer supervision, playtime, and positive reinforcement will help him grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.Personality: Raider is a playful and active pup with a super sweet personality. He loves spending his time playing with toys and having fun with his foster sister, always ready for a game or some excitement. His affectionate nature and playful energy make him a fun and loving companion who enjoys both activity and companionship.KIDS: YesDOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Raider is already wee wee pad and crate trained. He is currently working on basic puppy skills and leash exposure. He is learning household routines and will benefit from consistency, positive reinforcement, and continued practice. With patience and structure, he will continue to make great progress.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Raider were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. WISE has recently partnered with a group to save these unwanted dogs - healthy, unhealthy, and/or with birth defects - who are destined to be killed for no reason.Visit WiseAnimalRescue.org to fill out an adoption application.Adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Raider, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
