My story

Meet Apollo! This young mastiff mix has been thriving in his foster home and is well on his way to becoming an amazing and loyal companion. One of Apollo’s most charming quirks is how he proudly shows off his favorite toys when he greets his favorite people. One of his cutest habits is proudly carrying around his favorite toy while his whole body wiggles with excitement. It’s impossible not to smile at his happy welcome! Walks are one of Apollo’s favorite activities! While he does get excited, he’s been working on his leash manners and is already showing great improvement with minimal pulling. In his foster home, Apollo has been putting in the work and it shows. He’s doing very well with potty and house training when given consistency and structure, and he’s learning to settle nicely in his kennel while his foster family is away. As a young dog, Apollo is still working through some typical puppy behaviors like jumping when he gets excited, and he would benefit from an adopter who is committed to continuing his training. The good news is that Apollo is very treat motivated and eager to please his favorite people. Apollo can be unsure around new people at first and may bark at strangers, but with a proper, patient introduction, he warms up quickly and reveals his affectionate and playful personality. He’s made some dog friends at the shelter and seems to especially enjoy the company of female dogs. He absolutely loves rough-and-tumble play sessions with his canine buddies.Apollo is looking for a cat-free home, as he does enjoy chasing cats. He’s been making steady progress with vet handling and bath time when working with someone he trusts, though due to his nervousness with unfamiliar handling, he may benefit from medication before vet visits to help him feel more at ease. Apollo has been around children before, but because of his size and enthusiasm, he would do best with an adopter experienced with large-breed dogs. His ideal home will be committed to continuing his training and providing slow, thoughtful introductions to new people. Please note: - Our website (www.neenahanimalshelter.org) is updated in real time, so we are accepting applications for all animals that are currently listed. - Applications can be downloaded from our website. (http://neenahanimalshelter.org/how-to-adopt.html) - Our shelter has open visiting hours for cats, however pre-approved application are needed prior to an adoption. Appoin
