My story

Meet Scarlett 🐾 Australian Cattle Dog / Border Collie / Kelpie / Australian Shepherd mix | 3–4 years old | Spayed | 38 pounds Scarlett is the kind of dog who will steal your heart and probably your snacks. This sweet herding mix is looking for a patient, dog-savvy home where she can be someone’s loyal couch companion after a good adventure. At Home Indoors, Scarlett is affectionate, cuddly, and full of personality once she’s comfortable. She’s crate-trained, potty-trained, and does great in her crate when unsupervised — which is a must, since this girl has a nose for anything that might be edible. She loves snuggling up after a big day and would happily spend her evenings velcroed to your side. Out in the World Outside, she loves a good neighborhood walk or hike but Scarlett’s curiosity takes charge and she becomes an independent explorer. She has a strong nose and will follow it, so continued recall work is a non-negotiable before she can be off leash. With People Scarlett is shy at first meeting, but don’t let that fool you! Once she decides you’re her person, she is all in. Warm, animated, and wonderfully affectionate, she just needs a little time and patience to come out of her shell. She does best in a quieter home without children under 14. With Other Animals Scarlett is good with cats and can coexist peacefully with respectful dogs. She isn’t much of a rough-and-tumble player, but she’s happy to share a space. She does need structure around toys, as she can get bossy in that department. Dog parks and doggy daycare are not her scene, she much prefers a calm, controlled environment with dogs she knows. Training & Enrichment For a herding breed, Scarlett is refreshingly low-key in the drive department. She is medium energy, treat-motivated, and toy-curious. She’s already learned to play fetch and is even starting to swim for a ball! Both her food and toy drive could be built with time and positive reinforcement, making her a great candidate for someone who enjoys casual training as a bonding activity. Scarlett’s Perfect Day: Morning walk or hike → afternoon snooze → evening cuddles on the couch. šŸŒæšŸ›‹ļø Scarlett would thrive with: āˆ™ Adults or teens 14+ only āˆ™ Experienced dog owners who understand herding breeds āˆ™ A moderately active owner committed to providing regular exercise and opportunities for her to safely explore āˆ™ Someone committed to continuing her recall training If you’re looking for a loyal, low-drama adventure buddy who gives the best cuddles at the end of the day, Scarlett just might be your girl. 🐾 ā¤ļø Scarlett's adoption fee is $350 and includes spay, vaccines and microchip. If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Scarlett, please complete an adoption application located here: https://idawg.org/application.html

If you have any questions or would like to adopt SCARLETT, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
