My story

Hi! I am Nymeria, but also go by 'Nee-Mee'. I am an adult, female dog that is mix of Husky and Yellow Labrador. I have spent most of my life with one owner, in an apartment setting and I came to the shelter after my owner had to move out of state. My personality can be described as cuddly, affectionate, loyal and a people-pleaser. I enjoy playing with my toys and love to be by people. I adore hugs, kisses and pets. I am extremely loyal and I adore being by people. When I was a puppy, I was attacked by another dog and I got really hurt. This experience has shaped my relationship with other dogs. They are super scary to me and I am not sure if they are going to hurt me. I will bark a lot when I see a dog and I am trying to tell them to not approach. For this, I need to be the only dog in the home. I do love to go out on walks, play at the park and exercise my long legs. Despite being an older adult, I still have lots of energy and I love to play with toys, squeakers and various dog toys. I am not wild or crazy like a puppy but I am not sedentary like an older senior aged dog. I am 'just right' in the temperament and energy department. I am spayed, and I am up to date on my vaccines - bordetella, distemper and rabies. I have been Heartworm, Erhlichlia, Lyme's and Anaplasma tested and I am negative for all. I receive routine flea and tick preventatives, monthly as well as some well deserved pampering periodically: brushing, nail trims & ear cleaning. My ideal home includes an active home where I can still go out, run and play with my family. I have not been around small children. My shelter family says I likely would do ok with children but they need to understand and respect my boundaries. It is important that they respect me because I only want to love and care for my family and not get hurt. I have not been around cats so I do not know how I would do with them. I need a family that is caring, compassionate and loving. I want a family that is patient, willing to give me what I need: a warm bed, plenty of good food & clean water, and good ol' pets and love. Once I warm up, I enjoy being pet and loved on. It may take me some time to warm up - so it is important my new family is patient with me and allowing me to warm up in my own time. My shelter family works tirelessly to ensure I and my friends go to the right family. If you feel that person is you, I'd love to meet you. Please submit an application if you'd like to be considered becoming my family!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Nymeria (Nee-me), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
