My story

Hi, I’m Rocky ??I’m a tiny 1-year-old terrier mix who came to the shelter under very difficult circumstances. My previous owner loved me dearly, but her husband suffered a serious heart attack while traveling overseas. She had to leave the country right away to be with him during surgery and recovery, and she didn’t know when she would be able to return. With tears in her eyes, she made the heartbreaking decision to surrender me so I could find a stable home while she focuses on her family.I’m a sweet little guy who’s still adjusting to all the changes. I can be a bit barky and I sometimes take a minute to warm up to strangers, but once I know you’re kind, I’m a very loving companion. Because I’m a little sensitive, I’d likely do best in a home without very small children, where things are calm and predictable.During my veterinary exam, the vet found that I have grade 3 out of 4 bilateral MPL, meaning my kneecaps can move out of place more easily than they should. My future adopters should be aware of this and be prepared to discuss management or possible treatment with their veterinarian to help keep me comfortable.Despite everything that’s happened, I’m a gentle little dog who just wants a person to love again. If you’re looking for a small companion and are willing to give me a little patience as I settle in, I’d love the chance to meet you ???Rocky is neutered, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. His adoption fee is $650.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC.
