My story

Meet Freckle! Freckle is a joyful 7-year-old, 45 lb Queensland Cattle Dog looking for her forever home. Loyal, loving, and always ready for adventure, this sweet girl will make the perfect companion for an active family. About Freckle: * Age: 7 years * Weight: 45 lbs * Breed: Queensland Cattle Dog Personality & Behavior: Freckle is a happy, smart, and eager-to-please girl. She loves trail runs, hikes, and outdoor adventures—her excitement is contagious as she dances and prances when she sees the hiking gear come out! At home, she’s a loving cuddle buddy, often leaning against your leg or snoozing on her bed nearby. Like most cattle dogs, Freckle has a natural herding instinct and may give a gentle “nippy nip” or poke to let guests know they’re on her turf. She’s protective of her people and her “sister” dog (who is blind), but with planned introductions, she can learn to be comfortable with other dogs. She’s been great with her owner’s sister’s small dog during visits. Freckle also coexisted peacefully with a cat, though her playful herding might not be every feline’s favorite. Training & Habits: * Knows SIT and STAY with hand signals * Enjoys car rides, camping, and beach walks * Plays hard outdoors but settles nicely indoors * Barks appropriately at the door but not excessively * Can dig if left alone in the yard * Loves to be near her people, both outdoors and relaxing inside Freckle is deeply bonded to her humans and thrives when included in daily life. She is best suited for an active household that understands and appreciates the loyalty and energy of a cattle dog. Why She Needs a New Home: Freckle’s current owner is facing a serious change in living circumstances and medical challenges in the family. While loved immensely, Freckle’s joyful energy and protective nature are no longer the best fit for the household. She deserves a home where she can be fully herself—loved, active, and part of the family adventures. If you’re looking for a devoted companion to hike, run, camp, and snuggle with, Freckle is ready to be your heart dog! If you have any questions or would like to adopt Freckle, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
