Meet Meerkat! This 2-year-old, 44-pound boy is a gentle, sensitive soul who is learning to navigate the world one small, brave step at a time. While he may be shy at first, Meerkat has been steadily building confidence in his foster home and continues to show just how much potential he has to blossom with patience, consistency, and love. For someone willing to go at his pace, earning his trust will be incredibly special and deeply rewarding.Meerkat thrives on structure and predictability, and his foster is actively helping him build a consistent routine to support his continued progress. He has shown that he can be successful with housetraining and does best when kept on a regular schedule with guided management. He is crate trained and truly loves his crate, settling in comfortably and relaxing when left alone. In the home, Meerkat is an easy, low-maintenance companion who enjoys a calm, cozy environment where he can decompress. He’s been starting to show more of his personality, including playful moments—especially with his dog friend, Barkley! The two enjoy what his foster lovingly calls “kung fu time,” where Meerkat’s silly, rowdy play style comes out. He’s also recently discovered toys and is just beginning to learn how fun they can be.Out on leash, Meerkat is making thoughtful progress. After switching to a harness, he’s been much more comfortable and easier to guide, with less stress on walks. While the outside world can still feel overwhelming at times—especially when he’s feeling unsure—he is responding well to gentle redirection and support. With consistency and positive experiences, he’s continuing to build confidence. When it comes to people, Meerkat is still a “take it slow” kind of guy. He may avoid strangers at first and prefers to observe from a distance, especially in new or stimulating environments. However, he is making quiet but meaningful progress—he’s begun approaching his foster for affection, offering little kisses, and even thinking about joining on the couch. These small moments are big wins for this sensitive boy.Meerkat’s energy can vary depending on his environment—he may have playful bursts indoors but feel more reserved outside while he continues to build confidence. He’s also becoming more food-motivated, which will be a helpful tool for training and bonding. He would do best in a patient, understanding home that will give him the time he needs to decompress and adjust. A calm, co
