My story

Ripley is a large (12-pound), middle-aged (8-10 years) tabby guy who would love to spend the rest of his life lolling around the house, basking in the sunshine, and lazily batting at a toy you dangle for him. Despite having lived a rough life, Ripley is the chilliest of chill and blisses out when he is pet and loved on. He will reach out to rest his paw on your arm or leg to communicate his affection; this little ‘love note’ just about put his foster mom over the edge. It’s worth noting that Ripley was rescued from a shelter’s imminent (i.e. that day’s) euthanasia list, and he is the SWEETEST guy. He will nuzzle into you with a loud-but-relaxed purrrrrr and enjoys his daily dose of catnip or silvervine. Ripley would love to find a home where he can be the only cat of the house. He is FIV+ (immunodeficient, but generally live normal-length, healthy lives when kept indoor-only), and his ears show signs that he’s had to defend himself from many fights; so we’d love for him to get to enjoy the singularity factor of being the only cat- and not risk any fights (FIV transmission) with other household kitties. He may do just fine with a dog, though! (There is no risk of FIV transmission to people or dogs.) He also needs a home with a cat-savvy parent. 99.5% of the time, Ripley is the dearest, most caring and conscientious critter who adores his time with you and shows abundant affection. Maybe it’s just the stress of recent transitions and mild pain (that will be resolved with his dental work), but he has attempted to bite a couple of times (once when overly-excited and once when he was just ‘done’ being pet). This behavior may simply vanish with time once he’s settled into his forever home, but it should be considered with his adoption. On the bright side (???), Ripley will have most of his teeth extracted in April as a permanent resolution to stomatitis (‘bad teeth’). Feline Netwok will cover his appointment cost even if he is adopted prior to that appointment. If you’re looking for a mellow, adoring feline friend, please consider Ripley! Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and his adoption includes a voucher for a free vet exam AND includes his upcoming dental cleaning/extractions. For adoption info, call Kristin (805) 550-9064 www.felinenetwork.org

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ripley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
