My story

Meet Rip! This young and handsome guy is super smart and loves to train. Rip is a high energy dog looking for an active household that can keep his body moving and his mind engaged. Rip enjoys other dogs and wants to play all day long, so his ideal dog friend also enjoys extensive games of chase and some rough and tumble play. Rip is very sweet with people and he enjoys playing with tennis balls and tug toys. His enthusiasm often manifests through jumpy and mouthy behaviors that are best managed through patient and consistent training while also providing Rip with plenty of outlets for his instinctual drive to chase, tug, and chew on appropriate toys.Rip has limited experience being left home alone and is not comfortable being confined in a crate when alone. We believe Rip will do best with a slow transition into his new home where he can be gradually introduced to spending time alone in a dog-proofed area. Our behavior team is providing a free consult and hands-on lesson for Rip’s new family prior to adoption. If you’d like to meet Rip or have any additional questions about the adoption process, stop by the shelter during open hours, Wed.-Sun. from 1-6pm.
