My story

Michi is a deep-red beauty with an elegant look that almost resembles a Basenji. Her most charming feature? That perfect curl of her tail—it’s impossible not to smile when you see it. At around 1.5 years old and weighing a little over 35 pounds, Michi is a sweet girl with a soft heart. She is very shy at first and does not warm up quickly to new people. Michi needs a patient, understanding person who will give her the time and space to build trust. Once she feels safe and forms a bond, however, she connects deeply and shows incredible loyalty and affection. Michi is gentle and full of quiet charm—but she also has a high-energy side. She’s very smart and athletic, and would flourish in a home that provides both physical exercise and mental challenges, like training, enrichment games, or structured activities. She would also thrive in a home with a confident, well-balanced dog who can help show her the ropes, build her confidence, and be a playful companion to help burn off that energy. Having a canine buddy will truly help her come out of her shell and flourish. She’s the kind of dog who may start out reserved, then surprise you with her playful spirit and devoted nature once she trusts you. With the right environment, a dog friend, and thoughtful guidance, she’ll become an incredibly special companion. Our adoption fee helps cover expenses (vaccinations, microchips, spay/neuter, food, housing) for the homeless pets we rescue. UAF does not adopt or ship outside the state of Arizona. To ensure the best fit, UAF conducts a home visit to meet other pets and verify a safe, secure yard. If you have any questions or to adopt a dog an application must submitted.
