My story

This gorgeous guy’s full name is Jeremy Chubbs, but around the shelter he is affectionately known as Chubbs, Chubba Bubba, Chubbers, & we could go on… He’s something of a favorite with the staff & volunteers! This big strapping pup is just 2 years old, sporting a newly trimmed down physique and ready to hit the beach this summer. Chubbs is a real character with absolutely loads of personality, sure to keep you entertained and make sure you never have to go on another walk alone as long as he’s around. While he enjoys going for a sunset stroll as much as the next guy, what he really loves is a good lounge session on the couch. You bring the popcorn and he’ll warm your seat up for you so you can settle in for movie night with this handsome blond hunk! Chubbs still has quite a bit of puppy mischief and playfulness, and he can’t promise that he’ll never chew up your shoes (a bit of puppy proofing will solve that), but he can promise to be your devoted lifelong companion. All the love you share with him, he’ll share right back with you! If a lovable lug is what you’re looking for, look no further.Sometimes life changes, and sadly that’s how Jeremy Chubbs finds himself back at NCCR, through no fault of his own. He’s a little rounder these days, but still the same affectionate, easygoing guy. Chubbs is believed to be an American Bulldog mix. Chubbs bonds closely with his people and would do best in an adult home where he can be the only dog. Jeremy Chubbs is a big guy who originally arrived at NCCR on 5/21/25 after being found as a stray, but was adopted and then returned on 1/3/26 due to some changes in the circumstances at home. Chubbs is super friendly with people, although he can be protective of his home and family toward strangers. The family who initially found him shared that he was even good with their cats. He may be “too much dog” for small children, and is ok with some other dogs but would prefer to be your only canine companion at home, so a kid-free, dog-free home is preferred, but he is sure to make any special requirements seem easy to accommodate in exchange for the amount of entertainment & love he’ll bring into your life! He has the classic bully stubborn streak and prefers to have things his way, so he will need some kind but firm patience in his new home. If you’re looking for an affectionate and funny companion who will greet you with joy every day, Jeremy Chubbs might be exactly who you’ve been waiting for!*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email, as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown or a private number calling them. Thank you!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jeremy Chubbs, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
