My story

Do you like a bold, extroverted, assertive lady boss? A name like ATHENA can only befit a goddess, so get ready to worship this darling deity! Athena is a social butterfly who is popular among staff, volunteers and play group dogs. Knowing she fits in easily with a lot of different crowds, a dog walker took her home for a weekend to give her a break from shelter life. This is what she reported back: I took home Athena for a shelter break because I knew I only had a couple days and my experiences as a dog walker told me she was capable of making the most of a short time and could hit the ground running. I was right about that! There is no stranger danger with Athena, she loves anyone and everyone. She already knew me but grew extremely fond of my husband who knows just how to spoil a queen. đŸ‘žđŸ» She was careful to share her attention and affection equally among the two of us. When we weren’t together she’d spend time with one of us and after a while go seek out the other for some cuddles. It was very charming. â˜ș I also had a feeling she could be a match with my shy, submissive 10 year old beagle mix. Her and Athena got along famously. While Athena likes to romp and wrestle in playgroup, she was very gracious with my senior gal and respected her cues when it was time to back off. We separate for feeding but Athena had no trouble letting me give treats and attention to both girls simultaneously. During the day she was my telework buddy and also helped me around the house. She watched politely and intently while I cooked and supervised while I tidied up and hung some pictures. She is crate trained and slept beautifully through the nights but she comes out hot in the morning! She can be jumpy and mouthy when excited but is easily distracted if you toss a stuffie at her. Athena is first and foremost though a leader. And while she did not chase my cats, her attempts to boss them around went over like a lead balloon with my clowder. Athena ignored my two less social cats but wasn’t a match for my two assertive ones who are not ready to share my lap just yet. Athena is recommended for a home with adults only or older kids because of her boisterous personality and probably would do best without cats. She loves making doggie friends but if you already have a dominant dog Athena may struggle to find her place. She loves to be in charge and takes it very seriously. She is extremely well socialized with people, loves to be out in public and is up for pretty much anything. She is ideal for a home looking for a young, exuberant dog to be the life of the party. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
