My story

Marmalade is a three-year-old, 35-pound Australian Cattle Dog mix who is learning that the world can be a safe and gentle place. She spent a year in a crowded county shelter with little human interaction, which left her unsure of people at first. But behind that timid exterior is a sweet soul who truly longs for connection. If you sit quietly with Marmalade, she will work up the courage to come closer, gently placing her paws in your lap and sometimes offering the sweetest, cautious kisses. She walks nicely on a leash, accepts handling, and has shown she can relax and enjoy herself in dog playgroups. While not particularly treat-motivated, Marmalade’s progress comes through patience and quiet encouragement rather than food rewards. She thrives when given the time and space to move at her own pace. Marmalade’s ideal home is with someone experienced in helping shy dogs blossom, someone who finds joy in watching small, daily victories build into lasting trust. With love and consistency, Marmalade will reward her person with deep loyalty and gentle affection. Her adoption fee of $250 includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and a wellness visit.
