My story

Meet "Bon Appetit" cat, Butterscotch. Butterscotch, very sweet like her name, has a passion for food tasting and sharing, probably because of her rough start as a helpless kitten, struggling to survive in a busy parking lot. She survived long enough to be rescued and experience the love of human kindness, but her passion for shared mealtimes still exists. She will be your food guide, connoisseur spirit, and treat taster. Her forever parent will need the patience to guide her towards healthy choices, enjoy snacking together, and appreciate sharing their lap with her as they enjoy bits of unseasoned baked chicken. Her "ideal" parent will be food conscientious themselves, so Butterscotch will not be tempted by high carbohydrate or high fat foods -- the food she adapted to in order to survive on the streets. Favorite things: mealtime, eating together, gentle back pets and scratches, watching birds through the window, calm environment, hanging out in the kitchen. Butterscotch is shy, but food breaks this barrier. She accepts and enjoys pets on her back (she prefers not to have her head touched) and will fearlessly jump into your lap for a treat. She finds comfort being around other cats; she would be a great companion for another gentle cat. In her foster environment, she has become more confident with her own sense of self, so she may do well as an only cat with an experienced cat person. Given her timid nature, Butterscotch would probably prefer a calm home without children and dogs. She does well with other cats in her foster home. Butterscotch is a gentle, loving kitty (approximately 1.5 years old), looking for an experienced cat parent who will help her make healthy food choices and provide her with the patience, safety, and friendship she needs to feel loved. If her story, special qualities, and pictures capture your heart, please inquire to see how Butterscotch can be forever yours. Notes: Butterscotch is spayed, dewormed, vaccinated, and chipped. Health records are provided, as are toys, bed/blanket, and current food. Interested adopters will be asked to complete an application for review and arrange a meet and greet with the kitty at the potential adopter's home. We want to ensure kitties are a good match for the adopter and the home is a good match for the kitty(s). Adopting a pet is a life-long commitment, through sickness and in health. We consider them family. Please note that most new pets will need time to adjust and feel comfortable in their new environment. This is natural. Here is information on the 3-3-3 rule: https://companionanimalcommunitycenter.org/your-cat-settling-into-your-home-with-the-3-3-3-rule/

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Butterscotch, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
