Meet Alucard!Alucard came to ACC as a stray brought in by NYPD. He's a wiggly, social guy who's been learning the ropes of shelter life and showing us his playful side with trusted handlers.My Ideal HomeAn experienced, adult-only home that can offer structure, patience, and a calm routine. Alucard benefits from slow, choice-based introductions and plenty of decompression time. Positive reinforcement training and confidence-building games will help him feel safe and settled.Good with Kids?Recommended adult-only (no children under 13) due to fearful moments and poor impulse control when stressed.Good with Other Pets?In shelter play, Alucard has greeted dogs with a loose, wiggly body and engaged in exuberant, physical play. He can get jumpy and may fixate, so any dog meets should be slow and structured with a well-matched, respectful canine. Cats: unknown.Leash MannersModerate puller who's responsive with guidance. When overwhelmed, he may balk or thrash on leash and hesitate to re-enter the building/kennel. Using distance, gentle encouragement, and reward-based training helps him move forward calmly.Overall HealthAlucard is in good health and will be neutered prior to adoption. He was treated for a mild case of kennel cough and has since been cleared to move out of isolation.Behavior DeterminationLevel 3 - Exuberant greeter with basic manners/impulse-control needs and sensitivity when pressured. He'll thrive with decompression, consistency, and force-free training (think: "sit," "off," trade-up, and gradual confidence work).Other Fun FactsStaff call him "playful" and "wiggly." He takes treats gently once settled, enjoys carrying toys, and loves making new friends after a warm-up. With patience and a predictable routine, this handsome goofball will be a joyful companion.
