My story

** If you are interested in adopting Barley, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Barley is a 1-year-old Chihuahua who weighs in at just 6 lbs of pure love and sweetness. This tiny boy was found as a stray in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and despite his scary start, he has the happiest, friendliest outlook on life. From the moment you meet him, it’s impossible not to fall in love - he has a big personality packed into a tiny body. Barley is the definition of cuddly. He absolutely adores being close to his people, whether that’s curling up on your lap for a nap, snuggling under a blanket, or following you from room to room with his curious little trot. He’s also incredibly playful and loves the company of other dogs — he’s quick to make friends and would thrive in a home with a canine buddy to romp around with. Barley is smart, friendly, and very people-oriented. He greets life with joy and enthusiasm, and his affectionate, loving nature makes him a wonderful little companion. Because of his small size, he’d do best in a home where he’s handled gently, but he’s adaptable and ready to join in on whatever adventures his forever family has planned—whether that’s walks, car rides, or simply couch snuggles. Barley would thrive in a home where he’s showered with affection and attention. He’s a social little guy who thrives on companionship and would do best in a home with an individual or family (older children are preferred to avoid any tail-pulling or rough handling) who works from home or active retirees who can offer him the love and care he deserves. Barley's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a tiny rescue dog. He will require behavioral guidance and tons of love to nurture a positive attitude about the world. In return Barley will be a loyal and loving best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. When this adorable pup falls in love, he falls hard. He gives 100% of himself to his relationships with both his people and his canine companions. Since Barley is just a young dog, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Barley will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a dog's's ultimate behavior and in his relationship and bonding with his people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue feel very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement / force-free training classes that are virtual or in-person. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Barley out to a home that doesn't choose to offer him this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force-free virtual or in-person trainers in your area. Barley has been fully vetted and vaccinated to adhere to Farfel's protocol of only adopting out healthy dogs. He has also been neutered to support Farfel's commitment to a future world where dogs are never euthanized for space. Barley is available for adoption now! Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application form completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Barley, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Barley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
